How does this compare with the assist bike from Halfords? I'm looking to get an e bike and have had my eye on that one for a while. I don't know much about bikes!

On paper this seems much more bike for your money. 7 speed Shimano gears and a much better range. The Assist bike is single speed.
Assist claims max 20 miles and "average" 10-15 miles, which means you might even get less than 10 if you're heavy or you live in a very hilly area. The Vitesse claims up to 60 miles and several reviewers are saying 40 which seems reasonable. Also this weather you'll get less range from batteries anyway.
Assist has a front hub motor (don't know what make), Vitesse has a rear Bafang hub motor. Rear is better for balance and more responsive steering. (edited)

Identical to the ALDI one we bought earlier this year, well worth the money here as ours cost £799, as mentioned by otheres nothing fancy, basic but sturdy and well made.

Looks like a comfy ebike, with sensible specs. Not a massive battery, but 36V and probably more than adequate for the types of things this bike is likely to be used for. Very difficult to find an ebike for less money.

Agree, nothing silly on there like cheap suspension (which is worse than a rigid fork). Basic components, but nothing that's going to fail fast and for the price it's hard to beat.

Would you guys leave this outside? I cannot bring it inside our flat so I would need to chain it outside.

Definitely don't leave it outside overnight. D locks are so easy to grind off (takes 15 seconds). Or they could just easily remove the non-integrated battery and rear motor wheel. Would probably disappear on the first night.
