Details

Stamp your style on the world with the ASUS VivoBook 15, this feature-packed laptop makes it easy to get things done, anywhere. It’s built to perform, from a powerful AMD Ryzen 7 processor to a crisp Full HD display, a 180° lay-flat hinge, and sleek geometric design. 16GB of RAM ensures smooth running across multiple programs, and, with 512GB of SSD storage, you can load up photos, videos and documents in no time.

Keep in contact
Thanks to the onboard camera, this device, once connected to Wi-Fi, will let you take part in video chats or virtual meetings, enabling the fun of the office to come to you.

AMD Ryzen 7 processor
The AMD Ryzen 7 processor in this laptop lets you flex your creative muscles. You won't have any problems running demanding software, and power-hungry programs like image manipulation and video editing will work like a dream.

Streaming, rendering and 4K video editing will all be a cinch thanks to its 8-core and 16-thread design, and you can expect games to run with sharp graphics and silky-smooth frame rates.

What is RAM?
RAM (Random Access Memory) is different to the permanent storage provided by hard disk drives (HDD), solid-state drives (SSD) or memory cards in your equipment. RAM is used by your device to temporarily store data to carry out everyday operations. The more RAM your machine has, the faster you can expect it to open and run programs.

RAM packed
Featuring a massive 16GB of RAM, this computer is comfortable running lots of complex tasks at once, and you won't see any obvious lag or slowdown.

Super-fast loading with loads of storage
The 512GB Solid State Drive (SSD) gives you the capacity to store documents and media, while ensuring speedy and dependable access to your files and programs. Games will load up super-quick, and there's enough space for all your photos, videos, and music too.

AMD Radeon Graphics
AMD's Radeon graphics processing unit (GPU) will enable you to enjoy a number of classic older games, along with some casual (web-based) gaming. You may be able to run more modern titles with reduced effects and frame rates.

Great entertainment
The Full HD display packs loads of detail into films, videos and games, with a built-in sound system that pumps out crisp and punchy audio.

Connecting your other devices
Connect to TVs or external displays with the HDMI output. Listen to music using a 3.5mm headphone jack. Connect to high-speed peripherals with the USB ports, and send data wirelessly between devices using Bluetooth.

16gb ram is good. 512gb SSD is the minimum you would want. It’s a Ryzen 7 4800H so decent CPU and iGPU but 3 years old. Has a pointless ‘lay flat’ mode with a 180 degree hinge for which I cannot think of any useful purpose.

60Hz FHD IPS panel with 45% NTSC, specs don’t state brightness so I assume not amazing.

Full specs there. Seems fair for the price? Hope this helps (edited)

I think ‘lay flat’ mode is for presentations but I’ve never seen anyone use it or thought it is useful enough to warrant advertising. The only other benefit I can see is when someone pushes the lid back too far into the stops (on non lay flat systems), it won’t get damaged.

Quite an old processor but otherwise seems a decent spec for the price. Heat!

Not bad for the money and as a complete package. CPU is Zen 2 but still quick. Panel appears to be ‘IPS Level’ but weak colour gamut, still better than a basic TN one. I think there have been better specced machines for similar money but this is decent if you want something solid and want to buy from John Lewis for the warranty.

I purchased this last night, sub £500 is worth it when I don’t game. I had my eye on a 5800h laptop at £550 but just had to jump ship with prices increasing all around in happy to pocket the difference. Particularly as I’ll want an external disk drive.

Great price OP! Just picked one up

250nits, no thank you, it doesn't go very bright.

    Buy the Lenovo Slim 5i.

Received the machine this morning and setting up. Impressed at build quality and keyboard for the price point. I’d probably not opt for numeric keyboard with hindsight. Screen ample bright for inside use and super clear. Processor well spec’d and good benchmarks for light compute plus no throttling evident. Should be great for creative applications while being mobile. I was tempted by the HP Aero 13 for the screen spec but was put off by the near 50% CPU throttling due to form factor/cooling. Definitely recommend this machine. Apparently if there are any warranty claims it’s best to deal with JL as ASUS back off to a 3rd party which can be more complex to deal with. Don’t forget to leave ~20% free on SSD for TRIM efficiency. (edited)

Will this run Alone in the Dark 1-3 & Theme Hospital?
Seriously though, can it run Age of Empires 4?

I voted hot! A bit pointless using a H CPU, this is not a gaming laptop and it will drain your battery. You can change it in settings and make it energy efficient. I like it, I think it is a fair price, not necessarily an outstation deal (mostly because I came across OLED/dedicated GPU similar specs in the past for around the same price or less) , but it ticks lots of boxes. Hi, not bad for the money

It seems to have the same AWFUL screen as the Vivobook I bought a year ago but that was £350 so I wasn't expecting fireworks. The screen is so bad that even though I tried really hard to get used to it, I ended up getting another laptop for travelling. The Vivobook ended up docked under the TV permanently.

Also that's a really odd choice for the CPU. Two generations old and a H version for an ultrabook? You better put a cap on that thing because it's going to drain the battery like crazy. (edited)

I think it’s old stock they’re clearing, probably from 2020. No new laptops with the 4800H have come out recently.

Keep in mind cpu is 3 years old, and recent models have much more graphics performance.

Will this be able to cope with short under 10 mins video edits?

Had a bad turn with John Lewis delivering to the wrong store so i had to get them to order a replacement rather than them sending it onwards, a confusing text followed by a 20 minute phone call and 24 hour delay to possession

Is this deal over? Tried to purchase it, but shows code is not valid.

When it first appeared (on JL) I went looking for terms and conditions and couldn’t find any for this deal, so no date to give you I’m afraid. It meant I was quick to order unlike my usual over thinking

Looks like the deal is over..could anyone recommend anything that can run some games and sub £500?
    Jennie-1987's avatar
This just got discounted to £499.99
