A Thermostatic Radiator Valve (or TRV) is a valve which is fitted to a radiator in a hot water heating system that is self-regulating (sets the temperature of the radiator automatically) based on the temperature of the room. It controls the room temperature by altering the flow of hot water to the radiator. In simple terms, it is a valve that can be set by the homeowner to turn on and off the radiator (when the heating system is active) based on the temperature of the room. This allows a level of temperature control in every room of the house, which one would not normally be able to achieve, even with a thermostat controlling the main heating system.

Not sure why this is cold. If you have cheap white radiators, then yeah, they would look silly. I recently renovated my house and put designers radiators everywhere and was shocked to see prices for matching radiator valves. It's a bargain for this price.

I'm yet to see the bill for my 2 x antracite TRVs. We put 2 vertical designer radiators, and the builder purchased the TRVs. Also, he's purchased a white one for one of our old radiators. I have no idea why, as i had one already.
We'll see how much he'll charge us. On Screwfix website, the antracite ones are £27.

I don't understand the cold either, don't people realise how much these usually are?
Plus they would look just fine with white radiators.

Probably it is considered as spamming. Posting deals more than three from the same shop in a quick succession tend to get cold vote, it seems. Unless, it's free kindle books which apparently one can get away with it.

There's a Drayton RT-212 TRV and lock shield set on here for about £17 or less than that if you're buying in bulk elsewhere. Yes, £3 more for the Drayton but 'off brand' radiator valves aren't worth the small price saving. If you need to replace just one failed valve set, you're draining down the whole system again and paying for another bottle of inhibitor, plus the plumber's time if you can't DIY.

These valve heads are not claiming to be 'fast reacting' or to have a 'liquid sensor' so they may be old tech wax sensors. A 'fast reacting' head still takes 20 minutes to respond to temperature changes, I dread to think how long the wax ones take.

If you're shopping for TRVs based on how they look with your home décor, fine. If you want a reliable heating system, don't buy cheap unbranded. And these aren't even cheap for unbranded. (edited)
