Ah yes, January! The guilt ridden month when everyone signs up to an annual gym membership, only to use it for the first 3 weeks of the year! Funny that you never see many gym membership offers at this time of year? A female friend of mine pays £50 a month and visits her gym about 4 times a year - just so that she can proudly tell others she has a gym membership??? Definitely a woman thing!! For anyone not so concerned about the brand and ok with Tuna in brine/oil, my local netto had tins of tuna at 45p today.

tango42

Also this price at Somerfield for those that dont have a Waitrose :)

Geenius

The John West ones have added salt in anyway, which to my eyes makes them brine also. Morrison's own and Princes have no added salt. I wish I'd paid more attention now, as Sainsbury's had the 4 pack of Princes in spring water on offer yesterday.

This is a VERY mis-leading post. Don't be fooled people, EVERYTHING is a strong word....and it certainly is not the case in the majority of Waitrose's. In my branch there wasn't one thing for sale at 10p. This should be stone cold.

plane_boy2000

We have a Waitrose station in Portishead, North Somerset. - they get a big thumbs up from me because they make no fuss over their petrol prices yet have always reduced them faster that Asda / Morrisons up the road. Leads me to believe that they are charging the real price and not holding out / trying to con us into thinking that the supermarkets are in a price war

I like the 'American Hot' one more than the others but even that isn't really worth the RRP. Morrison's 'posh' range ('The Best' IIRC) does a cracking Margherita for less cash than Pizza Express one and is IMO better. A bogof deal is certainly a good buy however :)

Baz8755

You are correct, that is where he gets his whisky from. Prices aren't that high but you also got to take into account the membership fees :w00t:

RufusA

Sounds like a SMWS description if ever I heard one (it's a "society" not a club). Actually just googled for it, and it's "29.37" - a cask strength 12YO Laphroaig in a standard ex-bourbon cask. http://www.smws.co.uk/whisky/tasting-notes-results.php?region=Islay&bottle_age=&casknum=&keyword=&orderby=age%20DESC&item_start=165 I'm a SMWS member (have been for years). The bottles aren't *that* expensive, particularly the younger malts, a bit dearer than supermarket, but as they are cask strength you are in effect getting 40-50% more whisky for your money! What I love about them is that they are single cask so you really get to taste the characteristic of the barrel it's been matured in. It's like eating gammon cooked on the bone compared to chopped and reformed ham. Each one is hand picked by an experienced tasting panel. Also they are never chill filtered so you get that lovely oily mouth feel lacking in some bottles. For anyone who LOVES whisky I can also highly recommend Whisky Live - an annual Whisky show where you get to taste great malts and meet with the distillers who actually make them! HTH - Rufus

Geordie.Girl

Beware this is an aquired taste. It is very smokey and not to everyone's taste. My b/f loves single malt but does not like this at all. Excellent price if you are sure you like it though.

Baz8755

Until recently I would have agreed with you but a couple of years ago my boss got me a bottle of 'Seaside Funfair', an Islay Malt which came from his whisky club. Unfortunately having finished the bottle I opened my bottle of Lagavulin and it was like going from a single malt to a blended. I guess its all a case of what you are used to, people who drink blended probably have never tried a single malt and therefore find the taste acceptable. But people who can afford the whisky club stuff probably think the same of high street malts. Luckily my palet has forgotten about the expensive malt and is now quite happy with Lagavulin again:-D but given the chance I would go for the finer stuff.

Brilliant price! Wish my daughter would drink it - I bought it once and she took one sip and gave the bottle right back to me. I wish I never introduced her to Alpro now, as it cost a fortunte for a weeks supply.

Tesco only rob the customers who are too lazy to read the packaging of their value soya milk. This is certified organic, but Tesco don't shout about it. At 60p per litre, this is what I always buy. ClashInDevon

It is a good deal, but if you've not got a waitrose near you but have a morrisons, they're 90p (less than half price)each, not sure when the offer finishes though.

The Sainsburys deal was for the 1litre bottles (I got a few at the time as it was an absolute bargain). Cheapest deal on Pimms at the moment (ran out at the weekend and needed some more!) seems to be Asda who are doing 2 x normal bottles (70cl) for £18, which works out at £12.86 a litre. As for the 'was' price, my local Sainsburys has 2 displays of Pimms, one says £17.49, the other £13.49, so I'm guessing £17.49 is the 'out of season' normal price, and everyone discounts it in summer as thats when it sells most.

RedOnRed

I'll be surprised if it was for 1L. We shop in Sainsburys every week and I saw Pimms selling at £10, but when I went to have a closer look it was 75cl.

Coldape

Both old deals say 1Litre and no comments saying this is incorrect. ]https://www.hotukdeals.com/item/204635/pimms-1l-bottle-just-10-00-sainsbur/] ]https://www.hotukdeals.com/item/204816/red-hot-offers-starting-tomorrow-at/

thats ok...TBH i dont really know the normal price for this...it just sounded a good deal lol

RedOnRed

I think the Sainsburys deal was for 75cl.

Hugely Reduced Toys at Waitrose

Probably because most of us non-Southerners are generally too tight to shop in Waitrose, hence the stores are always half-empty! In case anyone hasn't seen it, Waitrose are doing an on-line ordering service which you can then (I think) have delivered or collect in store. It costs £3 if you're collecting, but at the moment they're offering £15 off a £50 shop if you use the code SAVE15. You can use it twice per person. It's probably posted in more detail on here somewhere, I saw it on MSE a couple of weeks ago and just thought I'd mention it.

Hurby

Sheffield Waitrose is one of the better branches throughout the country - good value reductions, good choice, peaceful shop, very friendly staff... There are many Waitrose shops down here in London but none is as nice as the Sheffield one. Therefore I doubt whether the other shops would reduce their toys in line with the OP.

panddda

Thank you loads for this post - not so much for the toys, but because I hadn't realised there was a Waitrose in Sheffield! Fab!

loveabargain

How do you find out if your local store has toys? Do most of them? I haven't been in our local one - St Albans - but would go to look at these offers if I knew they had toys.
