Not great from what I recall. Lidl has the best compost I’ve had so far. Better than Aldi

If you want to save some pennies, this is on a par with the much more expensive Miracle Gro All Purpose Compost, according to the latest Which? review.

I ordered my compost from Wickes last year (and paid for delivery) The first lot, every single bag was mouldy inside, LOTS of mould. They came, picked it up and replaced it, so this time I actually got to see the compost and feel it, it was awful, really awful. Unless they have changed it, I would avoid this at all costs.

Just bought 10 bags of this for the tomato plant troughs in my greenhouse and was going to post but see it's already here, so heat given :-). Each spring I buy ~500L of whatever multipurpose compost looks the best value for money, and have never found one to be any better or worse than the other, and always end up with more tomatoes than my household can eat (and we eat a lot!). I've bought Wickes compost on a couple of previous years and never had any issues with it - that said I've not yet actually opened the bags I bought today. I nearly bought SupaGro compost from Home Bargains until I saw the majority of the reviews stated it was both full of non-organic contaminants and underfilled. At least the Wickes bags seem full, which is a good start.

The Supagrow is garden compost, not potting compost. ie fine for digging on borders but I wouldn't put it in a pot.

I bought a few bags. First impressions are that it's very light and fluffy and doesn't seem to retain water very well. Potted up a few plants in it. Will see how it goes.

I agree, in pots the water just seems to run straight through. Wish I'd paid the extra for Jacks Magic now.

So far I've used six of the ten bags I bought last week, all used for my greenhouse veg troughs, and no sign of any mould in the bags I've opened. The only obvious contaminants were a couple of small pieces of plastic in one of the bags. Water retention of mine seems fine, though it's hard for me to judge given it's very damp weather at the moment, and as I always mix in about a third of my home-made compost in the troughs too.

Wonder if this is any better than the awful stuff we've recently been trying - various makes.

The worst we have EVER come across is the current Aldi stuff. NOT rotted down: unrotted down material, bits of plastic, and worse still, metal, and what looks like bits of mirror. AVOID!!

Next worse is Levingtons: stones, plastic, unrotted material, grass, large bits of twig
