b1g1an

The Clas Ohlson ones are indeed very good, unlike most they retain they're code after losing power, ie unplugging, seasonal power cuts etc. Only downside is they use rolling codes, less likely your neighbours will trigger them but can make them a nightmare for using with third party RF senders for integration into home automation systems.

silverred

In my experience they're not that good. Mine broke within a year.

LOL of course. You animal you 🐯. I can live without your trolling I bet your only 15 ha ha. Another idiot that knows everything and actually knows nothing. Want me to change your nappy lol

Mrepg

You’re a chancer! Also not used for the same thing at all! I been at it longer than you and far more skilled! Also managed some of the largest UK builds. Let’s see you shape some sand limes with a flat edge comb or brick hammer! You’re a chancer, and every really bricky now knows it from your comments haha

peterdarlison2

Both used for same thing dummy. A scutch has a flat side and coned side. Don't dare tell me about bricklaying sonny I've been doing it all my life.

Disco.Dave

It's hammering time

Mrepg

Also not known as a scutch. This is not a bricklayers hammer either. It’s called a brick hammer! A scutch has a comb and can come in double end too so as to have the best of both world ie brick hammer and scutch! What are they teaching people these days!

Good price for 30m, hopefully you won’t miss the 3A. Heat.

RCAnderson

Looks like it doesn't have a cable guide. I went to my local Wickes whilst I was going past to take a look. The picture with the guide is probably an old picture, before a "cost saving" opportunity from Masterplug!

poundshopper

cable guide is good as i have this model without it and its a nightmare to get the cable back on the reel

idontflycathay

This looks like a newer model with the cable guide. My old one doesn't have one either but I've managed to live with it :)

RCAnderson

Decent price for 30M, but only 10A, rather than 13A. Also, it's unclear if it has the cable guide or not... The top picture shows it doesn't have the guide & the bottom one shows it does. As an owner of a similar reel without a guide, they're a real pain!

Price has gone up to £230 now

bellboys

Doorebell I would tend to agree with you as I've got a cheapo Chinese one and works OK (but TBH nowhere near as reliably as the Floodlight cam I have). But this thread is about the Floodlight Cam, which you clearly have no experience of. And i really don't mind dissenting voices at all if that person has had any experience of the product, which you clearly haven't hence your silence last night when challenged. Plus the 'alternative' you linked to was a bit of a laugh given the fact it was missing 3 key ingredients that sets the Ring apart but was the same price! :D And I LOVE information presented when it comes from someone who actually knows what they are talking about. It's sort of how you learn about things, isn't it? But not from self-appointed internet experts.with no experience of the actual product they are critiquing.....

gazdoubleu

I'm not a professional fitter so I think I can afford to wait until reputable competition forces the price down.

PACMAN123456

Yes I agree ring is a little overpriced. But what is the price for security for you and your family and home? in regards to the doorbell you can buy similar products from China for less than quarter of the price but where you will struggle is with the software.. Ring has obviously invested heavily in their software and app and they know that. But now that the Google doorbell is out things are getting a lot more interesting and I'm sure the prices will drop. China has even bought out their version of this floodlight for £80..but I know that the software will not be nowhere near as good as the ring one here is a link if anyone is interested in my opinion all the headache of fitting the product and then if it doesn't 100% do what you intended it to in my eyes defeats the purpose if somebody wants to cut corners and costs for security for their home and family that is up to them each to their own FREECAM Floodlight Security Camera, Motion-Activated, Wireless wifi Outdoor Security Camera Built-in Suspicious Intrusion Detection,White amazon.co.uk/dp/B07BVSZB4L/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_CdK.BbZQ8CT2T

This is a mesh wifi system which gets fantastic reviews pretty much everywhere, it will provide a strong and fast wifi signal throughout your home and has a really good app to control it. Have a little Google (!) to see what it's all about. Good deal, the twin pack (suitable for a 2-3 bed home) is at least £229 anywhere else. Ordered two, if I find one twin pack is enough for my home I can just take the other back for a full refund.

devious11

No, it's a mesh WiFi system. Mesh router + Client. There's lots of YouTube reviews of how these work. Can't really compare them to a signal booster / repeater. https://www.lifewire.com/mesh-network-vs-range-extender-4148022

EdmundBlackadder

Is this just a glorified wifi signal booster? For the princely sum of £179?

I happened to stumble upon this deal myself - I've been meaning to grab one for a while and this is the cheapest I've seen it anywhere. Like others in the comments, Wickes didn't have any stock within 100 miles of my location so I submitted a price match request to John Lewis. They were happy to match the discounted price of £153.85 as long as I used click and collect - which is fine by me. Picked mine up yesterday! As an added bonus, I was able to get the white version, which Wickes don't seem to stock.

mufatlal

Just picked up from local Wickes, well done OP.

mufatlal

Straight forward, turn off electrics, use a tester to check wires, make note of wires in existing light before removing (I normally take a picture) then wire into new one. However, if you're not comfortable with this, please call a local electrician.

Was on the fence about this deal for a few days as I could see that there was a brushless model Makita available at ITS for £119.99 (DHP484). Also the brushless DeWalt for the same price as the DHP484 with a 4.0Ah battery. In the end I think this is a better deal for those who aren't going to be using their drill everyday and the 101 piece set that comes with it is worth £20-£30 on its own. Plus having a charger and battery means you can go off and then buy other Makita LXT tools (body only) for good prices and build up your power tool kit!

Ameer_Ahmed

Yeah, comes with all the necessary attachments. But with some furniture, if it's delicate, a hand screwdriver is better.

Neiliboy

Daft question. Can this be used as an electric screwdriver for assembling furniture? and you know, general screw er screwing.

christopherrosenfeld

This is one of the lowest on the Makita range (see link, not on the list but lowest torque) and the 101 piece kit is generally very good. This would be an excellent drill for most light DIY jobs, drilling on hammer could take a bit longer than the higher spec. drills and bit heavier. But the LXT batteries are really excellent and I had a cheaper Makita drill that did me really well. I'm a big Makita fan and for £106.25 this is an excellent buy. Heat.

Alexxx31

So it holds its value good.
