15% off on top of existing paint offers @ Wickes - E.G 2x Dulux 2.5L Emulsion £22.10 / 15% off Flooring in OP

Pretty decent and covers loads of different paints. For example, Dulux Matt emulsion is £16 each which is pretty standard, then they are on offer for 2 for £26 + the extra 15% maki… Read more

‘One coat’ in paint terms doesn’t really mean it takes one coat to cover. It means self undercoating

I’m in the trade and recommend dulux trade for undercoat and topcoat and emulsion, ignore anything ‘ one coat’ it’s nonsense in my eyes!

Wickes pink to white paint is ideal for ceilings. If you're painting white onto white, it's much easier to see where you've been. Their own brand is as well reviewed as the Dulux alternative.

Any one got advise best paint to choose for 1. ceiling and 2. woodwork gloss paint from the above?? White for both any recommendations?

can you just go in store and get the offer, or do you have to order online?

What's a good value quality mixer tap to go with it? I'm asking for a recommendation before some joker answers literally.

The price is difficult to say without looking at what your set up is, but start by adding in the cost of the sink/basin, and a new tap, are you doing the work yourself? If not you don't need to buy any tools just the sink and the fitter can do the rest of the work, if you have isolater valves fitted near the sink/basin in existing pipework then the water supply to the taps can be easily shut off, on the other hand if you have a cold water storage tank and a hot water cylinder, that would need to be drained if there was no way of shutting down the supply... so you see its difficult to quote on price without knowledge of the exisiting setup..HTH

Approx what price range am i looking at for the tools and labour, considering if i choose to grt this above sink?

The cost of a new mixer tap and whatever pipework adaptors you may need. Usually get the flexible pipe connectors with the tap.

Not very difficult to do, but price would depend ultimately on where you are (location) and who you use...but if your replacing the whole sink/basin then it shouldn't be much extra work at all

Got this on an Amazon Warehouse deal last November for £88. Perfect for my garden (70ft) which it does on one charge - I love it. However, didn't need to mow the lawn all that much this year so haven't really put it through it's paces...

This time next year we'll be millionaires

I buy and sell them a lot andthat price is great. I sell them on ebay for £100 used, they're good and reliable mowers.

I paid similar price from amazon 18 months ago.

I have this for a small garden, does the job well.

Go for this, it’s good for tiny gardens. Ours is like a cabbage patch, typical new build. But can’t get away with leaving it

I really need a lawnmower but our garden is tiny so dont really want to spend too much. Dunno whether I should go for this offer or just find a 2nd hand one on Gumtree

I think the 40v electric Flymo one for £120 is a great price too, brings down to about £100, over £200 everywhere else

BG usb 3.1 double socket £8 @ Wickes - Free c&c
Refreshed 7th OctRefreshed 7th Oct
Wickes giving 3.1 BG usb double socket . Rest it's £13.99

I do get fed up with the standby LED warriors telling us all to turn things off all the time. Why? Last time you waited at the traffic lights with your engine running for ten seconds you burned more energy than all my standby chargers, TVs, laptops asleep, tablets, phones, radios, amplifiers and so on will EVER CONSUME in their entire working life. And if you ever got on a plane....

Those of you worried about power consumption have just wasted more energy viewing this thread and complaining. Why not sign up to an electricity company that offers electricity from renewables whilst you're at it. Or you could sit in the dark That would help everyone.

It really doesn't. The power use when not used is miniscule. A few millionths of an Amp. So even with millions of them, it's not a significant issue. A PIR sensor on your garden light would use many times more.

Probably the same people who advise keeping your immersion heater on 24/7 (and similar to the gas engineers who say the same about central heating). They may have a good knowledge of connecting bits of wire but they haven't got a clue about the basics of thermodynamics.

Thank you brought this one instead. And not thanks as I couldn't really afford it but been wanting one and couldn't help myself as the ones with same specs are more.

Bushs or brushes ?? Ask at a local Electrical wholesaler; in most cases the brushes are one of a handful of standard sizes. I have noticed several pro/semi-pro brands (even cheap Screwfix ones), have brought back the screw-in brush access points, allowing easy changing when they wear out. Dont expect to find them on consumer gear from B&D, Bosch though

Tempting, I have a circular saw but it's not the easiest to cut a straight line and the sliding mitre saw only cuts the length of the slide. The Aldi one does look a better option though.

Picked mine up from my local store, box looked a bit battered but assured was new and in a massive rush so brought it home.....to discover it's most definitely a customer return! No mounting plate in the box and fingerprints all over the bloody thing. Absolutely fuming, CS getting an angry call first thing. Surely it is illegal to pass off customer retiurns as new?

Its not just about open tanks, even without them the idea behind the regulation is to prevent contamination of the mains supply. But there is no problem fitting mixer taps, if they have a built in "check valve" (also known as non-return valve) - or you fit the valves yourself to both supplies comming into the tap.

Are these noisy (as in can hear the sound of the water gushing)? Had a different set fitted in our bathroom and you can hear the water gushing when turning it on compared to our old spit taps... can hear it through the house it's that loud!

Most modern houses don't have open tanks, but double taps are still common in them. Which is daft.

Lots of properties in the UK get their hot water from a boiler that's fed by an open hot water tank. This means the hot water is not suitable for drinking as anything could get into that tank (drowned rats is the normal horror story you get). You should not use a mixer tap on a kitchen if you have an open water tank, unless you have a special mixer tap that completely seals the hot water feed.

Also, 15% off everything with code oct18, collection only minimum £100 spend.

How's the chain safety brake? Does the chain speed compare well to your petrol saw?

Having tried it on a major log/tree trunk yet.

Using it for removing a series of thick bushes. Most branches are less than 50cm in diameter and it’s handling them pretty easily.

Brilliant! Are you using it to cut up logs for the fire? (y)

I just bought this chainsaw - it’s pretty good for domestic use. Quite quiet. You have to assemble though, which isn’t difficult. It’s much lighter than my petrol one and seems easier to maintain. It’s got a self oil feature - but you must remember to put oil in. The only downside is that if you don’t use it correctly, the chain will come off and it takes 5 mins to put it back on. You need to get the tension just right to minimise the chain coming off, which you eventually figure out after a few hours. I’d say 4/5 overall. Definitely worth £60.

Purchased the set today. Loppers have a serrated edge on the claw so grips branch well and provides a good cut. Cushioned handles are far better than previous loppers which only had plastic grips. my view is that for the price of a good set of loppers I get the shears and secateurs as a bonus , pleased.

Got a community day at work on Thursday helping out gardening so perfect bargain cheers op.

These basic sets are usually around £10 in Asda/Tesco all summer and the Asda one was reduced to £7 recently so unless it's better quality it's about the right price imo

Preferred the soluble kind for easier coverage don't seem to make it now. We did ours earlier in the year and some areas are still black.

October is the best time for grass seeding, as most of the weed seeds have germinated by now.
