Wickes Everest Stone Porcelain Wall & Floor Tile 600 x 300mm (six per pack) for £19.83 delivered @ Wickes
Posted 19th JanPosted 19th Jan
Another difficult one to work out, as the delivery only counts for one pack, and let's face it you aren't going to buy only six tiles. Each pack is £11.88 instead of £17.22, plus a… Read more

Yeah I had same with tiles I had for bathroom of same size, they weren't necessarily bowed in the middle, more that they bent ever so slightly in the corners. I would guess about half the tiles in every pack, but because I had bought end of line tiles I couldn't return them so used them as is. Doesn't look too bad, it's just if you want that completely flat finish with the grout, you won't get it. I think all the porcelain tiles of this size have the same problem

we spent ages looking for some tiles for the new porch, and were happy to push the boat out for whatever we liked seeing as we’d saved a fortune building the porch myself. as luck had it the only ones we both agreed on were these at £11 a box a few weeks ago. I’m considering them for the bathroom when I redo that in Spring. it’s good that there’s variation of pattern between the tiles, so they’re not all exactly the same

Purchased the similar Wickes Callika Mist Grey Porcelain Wall & Floor Tile 600 x 300mm last month all the tiles were bowed in the middle. You couldn't put two tiles together flat. If your planning on doing a brick pattern, it doesn't look the best

Yeah i like the look of the elements one and the bigger sheets in it. I'll check out the marmox and jackoboard ones cheers (y)

I'm shopping around now. I think that 'Elements' board is pretty expensive Best I can find for a 'recognised' name is Marmox boards at Insulation express. Or 'Jackoboard' at CDT. Insulation express don't sell boards individually. Doing my sums, suggests the Jackoboard is better value and also, some sizes, are available in 2.4mtr x .6 boards as opposed to what seems standard. On the other hand Marmox comes in 1.25 meter where as most are 1.2mtr I'm not sure yet if CDT charge for delivery, but I have a depot near me. I noticed an outfit called Pure adhesion have the fixings at a pretty good price. There is a similar product out there, a bit cheaper I think called 'Nassboard' - to be honest I think the stuff is all pretty much the same though (ie extruded polystyrene).

It's always £90 from screwfix. So this is a good delivered price, but not much of a "deal".

Thanks for pointing it out anyway. I appreciate it. I want one!! I've wasted so much on rubbish hoses that die over the years

I don't think people realise that retracting hose reels aren't cheap and are voting this cold as it looks expensive on the headline price, free delivery is worth a few quid in time and petrol too

Yes, sorry i should have worded it better, this deal is for the new one.

Is this post for the new version or an old one then?

Wickes Navelli Light Oak Laminate Flooring (six pack) 1.48m² pack for £14.80 each (£22.75 delivered) @ Wickes

Bit difficult to price this one as click & collect is forbidden right now, but each pack is £14.80 plus £7.95 delivery - so for one pack (which is unlikely) it comes to £22.75.… Read more

These work out at £10 m2 , it's just the way HUKD have added delivery that makes it seem more expensive. I paid around £9.50 /M2 when they were on offer in the summer. I used 25M2 of these and didn't have a problem with any but I can see from comments a couple of you have.

Only been down 5 months and have not had any problems. I should mention that there isn't a washing machine or dishwasher in the kitchen. This type of floor is more water resistant than water proof and any spillages have to be mopped up straight away. Friend did have problem with a washer leak on their expensive 'Click Vinyl' floor that is supposed to be more water proof and had to have it replaced.

The click mechanism on these are horrendous. I would not recommend these. And they are almost double what I paid in summer.

I fitted some of this a couple of years ago and it's quite good. I had to take half of it back though, because it didn't fit together properly. They replaced it without any bother and I expect the problem will have been fixed by now. I couldn't believe at first, it was only when I compared two packs I could see that the edges were different. Delivery is free over £75 but it is limited by weight, so if you order too much you will have to pay anyway. The only way to tell is to put it your basket and see what happens. You may have to split it between two orders. You have to be careful if you fit it in a kitchen, it will probably cope with minor spills but not a real soaking. I have "waterproof" laminate in my kitchen, but even that was damaged when the dishwasher leaked.

Guaranteed for 20 years, but against what?

Einhell Power X-Change TE-CD 18 Li-I BL 18V 2 X 2.0Ah Brushless Cordless Combi Drill £85 delivered @ Wickes

When looking at a few drills, came across this. From a top trump of drill specs vs cost, seems like good value but no idea if this is any good. In the end when for a different dril… Read more

There are always drill offers coming up in screwfix and toolstation. For under £100 this is not bad for the diyer. I still have my dad's black and decker but it does struggle, and use my bosch cordless neatly all the time these days. This is small no cord and screws too. Never used the bits so can't comment on the quality of those.

Thanks Karis. Hopefully will do more :)

Congrats on your first deal, @Sh4k (y)

I currently have these and the 101 piece bit set sat in my basket. Never had a cordless drill and still using a 20 year old wired black and decker I got from my dad. Is it a good time to buy or are other offers likely to come up?

I have had a very similar experience. I have swapped out the 2ah batteries, sold them on Fleabay for £25 each, and bought twin pack of 4ah batteries when they were on offer at Toolstation for a little under £60. Have used it for various jobs that involved both drilling and screwing and have never found it wanting. Now have a large range of Einhell tools that I generally find really good, far better than your general DIY user tools, especially when used with the larger capacity batteries. Did have a problem with my original cordless multi tool which Einhell refunded me for as they had none in stock at the time and bought a new one subsequently whilst on the free battery offer with Wickes. I have used Makita equipment previously in my job and have to say that I did not find them anymore powerful although they maybe more suitable for a trades person levels of use.

Will this be ok to put on the floor under the kitchen units?

Can I use this to insulate walls and stop the screams?
