I hope this helps someone. First of all, great price so heat. I had a Poco X3 NFC for years. I loved it. One drunk night I woke to it in a bowl of milk. So I bought this phone about a month ago on Amazon for £172. It was a nightmare. Such a downgrade. The screen is absolutely beautiful and was an improvement over the x3 but wow the lag. So many crashes. Phone resetting itself. The camera so so poor. I've given it to my younger sister and have bought the Poco X5 for £201 with the Poco watch free and it's fantastic bar the camera being a little average.

I bought this in the Italian deal and had loads of crashes and a battery that wouldn't last the day despite minimal use. It was a massive downgrade from my 2yo Note 10. I had to spend £16 to return it and am waiting on the refund two weeks later.

I was tempted to take up this offer on the basis that I'd got a bad 'un and a return would be straightforward if the replacement was the same, but I don't think I'll bother now. Thanks.

We all went 8 9 10 and then stopped and gave up

too many phones and models that they push out too quickly

I would appreciate if someone could do a comprehensive comparison list

it just gets so confusing (edited)
    tiree's avatar
GSMArena allow comparisons on their website.

I think Xiaomi and the mobile market are taking the mick with specs these days, hoping consumers won't realise components have reduced in price again. Poco X3 Pro on this very site for £169 in July 2021. This had:

    A better CPU - Snapdragon 860
    6.67 120hz display
Double the RAM - 8GB, and faster UFS 3.1
    Double the storage 256GB.
Bigger battery with same 33w charging

There is no excuse for this. These components are old and CHEAP. My advice in most cases these days is hang on to your handset for as long as possible.
    punjabputer's avatar
Cost of components has gone up for everything

worthy upgrade to a note 8 pro?
    AMJensen's avatar
    Absolutely not

How much RAM is enough to use 2 apps without the other resetting? Using the Redmi 10 atm until new phone arrives and I can't even switch between RBS and a website without them resetting. Can this phone handle that?
    nbuuifx's avatar
Just tried my wife's 10s, it has about 15 apps currently open and happily switches between without any resetting.

Before spending money on a new one, I'd make sure it was backed up and then factory reset it and restore. See if that makes a difference.

I am using a POCO X3 Pro but I find the screen a little washed out.
    Worth switching to this?
    KASOOR66's avatar
Im using a Poco X3 pro.

I want a phone with better camera even though the camera on this is quite good.

According to Vs test Poco is better than the note 12 even though note was release well over a year later

Amazed this has an OLED screen at this price point! Getting really hard to justify spending x 10 more for an iPhone with a similar spec!..
    plewis00's avatar
I think a 'similar spec' would be something like an iPhone XS which can be had for around this price now. The only notable issues with this Note 12 are lack of 5G and only 4GB RAM (which seems to be going backwards, as we had 6GB models at this price in the past) - also UI quite heavy and won't be to everyone's tastes.
  9. lkl265's avatar
OP copied all the specs except the bit that shows this is only 4G !
  10. sonicfury's avatar
How does it stack up to a redmi note 10 pro?
    tiree's avatar
I replaced my note 10 pro with this. Function wise the only difference I find is it lacks stereo speakers and has a slightly inferior camera but there's not a lot in it. Upside is it's far newer tech, 6nm as opposed to 12nm and as a result battery life is superior. Also has Android 13 out the box with updates to 16 planned. Don't game with my phone so can't comment. Overall don't regret my purchase and the 10 pro still sells well on the second hand market.

Just paid £200 a week ago from Amazon, for some reason I thought that I had got the 5g version but haven't. Has anybody seen and deals on the 5gb version?
    SupraDan24's avatar
Send it back if it was only a week ago.
  14. GlesgaJoe's avatar
Is this phone 5g. You think I would notice a differece if it isnt. I'm not watching movies or any crap like that.
    CraigeDavido's avatar
No its only a 4G phone of what i read with the specifications of it.

    Hi

Any recommendations for a dual sim phone with dedicated Micro SD slot please ? Thanks
    litwoojczyznomoj's avatar
This phone deal has gained lots of heat already so it is considered a decent deal. It does have 2+1 card slot if I read correctly.
  16. punjabputer's avatar
Yes please put 4g in title
  17. BennyBall's avatar
4gb RAM ? Can it even run a browser without crashing?
    jimboo54's avatar
If 4gb isn't enough to run a browser that's a said state if affairs and implies terrible bloated browser.
  18. dicey69's avatar
I bought one of these a few months ago, I paid a bit more than this for it, but I'm still very happy overall with the phone, with one gripe. It's constantly dropping my home wifi signal. Does anybody else have this problem?
    timalina's avatar
I had this with my Redmi Note 10 after a system update. It seemed to happen moving between different routers, and even though it had the no signal symbol, it wouldn't reconnect without manually resetting the wi-fi button.
  19. nigelbutler's avatar
Shame they dont seem to do 6gb deals - 6gb was getting to be the normal but now no doubt due to cost 4gb seems to be what we get unless spending much more
    Masteryates's avatar
Agreed Nigel, if it was 6GB Ram, I'd be all over it.
  20. Chow_Yun_Fat's avatar
Less than £140 for amoled screen with 120hz, why on earth do people need to spend £1000 on a phone?
    Orange_swan's avatar
    Because they can

There's nothing quite like that seamless Xiaomi experience. And the pricing is insanely affordable. I've been switching all my Apple devices to Xiaomi and couldn't be more delighted.
    Sambi2's avatar
Hi i have been wanting to switch from apple to redmi 10. But i havent worked out how can move over things from the iCloud to the redmi. Could you kindly share if there is a way. (I am not very technical) thanks
  22. Fast.Eddie's avatar
Edit. Scratch that, doh! I read the spec and not 5g apparently.
Is this about the cheapest new 5g phone around? I need a 5g phone to use as a 5g broadband modem for the house. (edited)
  23. tiree's avatar
Paid £149 for it last month from Xiaomi so even better deal.

  28. maddogb's avatar
decent price, tho i have 6bg ram on my note 10s so not sure i could down grade,
just wish someone at Xiaomi would get their act together as essential for my next phone is full call recording and they don't seem to want to enable that on mine.

My daughter had a note 8t, keep seeing mixed reviews on this model, is it worth the upgrade? Thanks
    Dona3853's avatar
I have just bought this to replace an 8t. Don't think this is a big upgrade tbh but has bigger battery, 128gb instead of my 8t which has 64gb and Note 12 has better screen. Don't use camera a lot and no use for 5g so this will be fine for me. (edited)

redmi and xiaomi forbid users install any third-party app remotely by their servers.
I don't think it is worth to buy any devices with trojans...
    SClub's avatar
Eh? Do you mean APKs? This was no problem 6 months ago, have they changed something?
  36. CraigeDavido's avatar
Im still looking for a decent priced 5G phone to replace my nearly 4 year old Huawei P30 Pro phone. This is best phone ive ever had, and can't get around to replacing it, i keep saying. I don't really need a 5G phone for speed wise, i get tidy speeds on 4G in my area(s), but would be handy to get a tidy 5g one if good price.

Selling points i looking for in my next one, is mostly the fast charge, higher the better, like upto 100w at least, decent camera on it etc, how snappy it is. Memory I've only used just over half of what my phone goes up to 128gb. And suggestions out there on one. Still happy with my Huawei now, but wouldn't mind upgrading soon if i can find one which catches my eye.

How does this compare to the Poco M5?

I never quite understand why they call these "note"?
It doesn't come with a stylus like the Samsung notes nor is it supposed to imitate a notepad.
    plewis00's avatar
Xiaomi Notes are just big screen smartphones I think but yes, the naming is weird.
