Xiaomi Smart Doorbell 3 £45 + £4.90 postage
Reduced from £89.99

*Free cloud storage: 3-day rolling cloud storage means that the camera records videos on a rolling basis. Each video will be stored on the cloud for 3 days and be deleted after that.
*940nm high-power infrared lights: 940nm infrared light is invisible.
*Only needs charging 3 times a year: Battery life and battery data are from MadV laboratory. The standard capacity of the battery is 5200mAh. Under laboratory conditions, the doorbell was usable for 4.8 months in standard mode, at normal temperature (25°C) and pressure, with 20 10-second videos taken every day without other operations. Battery life and capacity may vary slightly due to individual product difference, service environment and other factors.
*Volume data measured at a distance of 50cm in a laboratory environment. Results during actual use may differ slightly due to individual product differences and environmental factors.
*The doorbell and user account are paired one-to-one on the Cloud server. Even if the doorbell is forcibly removed and stolen, no one can pair with or use your doorbell.
*Affix the doorbell onto the door using the 3M adhesive on the mounting back plate, or using screws. Please refer to the manual for the specific method.

I was all ready to press buy after reading most of the link then got to the bottom and found

*This product is not waterproof and should not be used in outdoor environments.

What? It's a doorbell but you can't put it outside?

Not an issue in many nations where peeps have porches or live in flats, etc. Clearly if you need a device that will survive our weather (and kids trying to steal it), you need something more specialist and robust.

Sounds good to me... I'm currently paying £3+ per month for Ring, was gonna switch to Amazon's Blink for £2 per month, but at £0 per month this would pay for itself in less than 2 years (as long as they don't introduce a charge in that time)

Can recommend Eufy doorbell. Separate indoor chime with micro SD card that stores video, I get notifications, playback, etc via my mobile and no monthly fees. Costs more than the one here but has been great (and is waterproof unlike this one).

I am a big fan of Wyze. Cheaper than this I think?

WYZE Video Doorbell with Chime (Horizontal Wedge Included), 1080p HD Video, 3:4 Aspect Ratio: 3:4 Head-to-Toe View, 2-Way Audio, Night Vision, Hardwired amzn.eu/d/b…fZQ (edited)

Shame about it being only 3 days rolling cloud recording. If you're away or unaware the recording is needed (an incident caught in the camera you weren't made aware of in time or theft/vandalism from say your garden you don't notice in time for instance) it renders the recording aspect useless in such a situation.

Yes it's free, but a minimum of 7 days would be far more useful/practical.

There doesn't even seem to be the option of either using a memory card (preferably) or paying for longer cloud storage.

P.s. For those that it does suit, there's a £10 off voucher for new customers subject to £100 minimum spend, everything in store eligible.

It's 3 days/72 hours of recording? Xiami reckons most users use 200 seconds a calender day? Doesn't that work out to be 3.5 years worth of videos?
    My math might be off.

72 hours is 259200 second. Divided by use per day (200 seconds according to xiami) gives 1296 days of events?

    It's a doorbell, not a 24/7 security camera.
