Great prices for here for either colour. Excellent as an upgrade from perhaps a low end beginner model. This should last you a very long while. The Pacifica range are classics and are well worth looking at from the very budget models up to the top end (When there are offers on, obviously )

I'd not describe it as a beginners model, because I think the outlay is rather large to find out if you can stick it out. Many experienced players including myself love Pacificas, they just seem to fade into the background a bit I think, especially with the brand not really registering on the "Coolometer" these days, which is a shame in a lot of ways, because Yamaha make some incredible instruments!

Anyway... I'm doing that waffling thing again

I'm on the market for a budget guitar but tempted by a fazley or Harley B for mainly price reasons. Is the Pacific a good enough jump up in 2023 ?

Have you considered the Squiers? Bullet or Affinity? These really are amazing value.

My second electric guitar was a Yamaha Pacifica in 1994, they went a bit "balsa wood" about 15-20 years later, but I believe they are back to being excellent value for money. I remember it was a game changer budget guitar in the 90's. Now we have Harley Benton destroying the competition in the budget arena. Also whilst I am left handed and have a left handed Yamaha Pacifica, Yamaha generally don't cater for lefties, they have a very restricted range. Anyway you do not want to be left handed and play the guitar, unless you are a genius such as Hendrix then you're fine. All the guitars I see and think I like that but they won't have a leftie version is all too common. Harley Benton and Schecter are excellent brands for left handers. Anyway getting beside the point. The Yamaha Pacifica 112 and 212 has mostly always been a great range of budget guitars.

My first guitar was a Pacifica 112 in the 90s. At that time the 312 and 412 just upgraded the looks (awful gold hardware that tarnished, pearloid scratch plates and flametop finishes). This looks similar but with the addition of the useful coil split option. Back in the day the Pacifica 112 was £199 so getting something that would appear to be better for £265 25 years later looks like great value! (I'm assuming that these sound and play as well as a 90s Pacifica 112 does)

Sounds good, same as real beer relatively much cheaper & often better now - so long as buyer at least 4 doors down either side from our terraced house.

The Pacificas are well worth the money. I managed to pick up a 311 for black Friday for the same prices as this. I'm only a beginner, but the guy I took it to for setup was singing its praises. The 311 is humbucker and P90. Would consider this, just for the HSS pickups, but I've got my eye on the Yamaha Revstar with double humbucker.
I'd say this 212 is worthwhile for a beginner. As it's a bit more expensive, you're less likely to get it on a whim.
I've also bought the Yousician subscription offer from here. Well worth a look for beginners. (edited)

you’re better off buying a second hand yamaha pacifica instead

at least if you don’t like it it has a relatively good resale value

Good luck getting one. I rarely see anything other then the budget models being sold. Most people keep hold of them.

    Great guitars

Pacifica was my very first guitar in the 80s. I've had about 20 guitars since then and it's the only guitar I regret selling.

I kept mine stock other than put Dimarzio Paf Pro pickups in it which really made it sound gorgeous. (edited)

Great price! The Pacificas are awesome guitars. If you ever see a deal for any of the 500 or 600 models, snap them up - the 611/612 especially is a stunning guitar (and already good value compared to comparable - but much more expensive - Fenders and Gibsons).
