Best price I’ve found for 10,000BTU air con

The summer heat can be unpredictable, which is why you need a multi-functional cooling unit to match. Bring in this Zephyrus mobile air conditioner which does four jobs in one. It cools, ventilates, dehumidifies and also has a sleep mode. 'Cool' keeps the area at a constant temperature, 'ventilate' controls the speed of the fan, 'dehumidify' dries out the moisture in the air and 'sleep' gradually increases the temperature by 1°C every hour.

Please note: included exhaust hose must be connected for this air con to work.

Features and Benefits
  • 4-in-1 Design – Cool, ventilate, dehumidify and sleep: switches between keeping the area a specific temperature, blowing the fan around, drying the moisture out of the air and gently increasing the temperature every hour. Suitable for use all day long and in different climates.
  • Auto Cut-Off – Automatically stops when the tank is full, safely preventing it from overfilling and causing damage. 24-hour timer allows you to set a specific running time, especially when sleeping. EER A grade is perfect for saving electricity.
  • Easy Control – Features an on-unit LED screen and also comes with a remote. 'Sleep' mode can only be set up with the remote. Control requires 2 x AAA batteries (not included).
  • Removable Air Filter – Keeps the air hygienically clean.
  • Exhaust Hose Included – Unit must be used with the pipe to work.
  • Refrigerant – R290 to deliver instant cooling for home and office.
Specifications
  • 'Sleep' mode can only be controlled by remote
  • Suitable for 12-18? room sizes
  • Powerful R290 refrigerant and 10000 BTU instantly cools your room

  • On-unit LED display and remote control included for easy control

  • NOTE: If the mobile air conditioner cannot be cooled, it may be a problem with the transportation method, not the quality of the machine itself.

    It says 1123W.

I assume like everyone else, you know how much you pay for 1000W of electricity being used for 1 hour?

    About 31-33p an hour currently.

I’m an Ac engineer. Cheap generic portable units unfortunately without advanced Technology unlike Fujitsu/daikan/Toshiba Compressors. Id say this: buy anything over 12,000btu run it like a car Temp at 21c have the appropriate window Kit to exhaust the heat from the unit and it’s should work Correctly. Ps most decent ac units have Sleep mode which is less noisy

All those portable units are flawed by design. The compressor (generating heat) is inside of the room it's supposed to cool down (unlike split systems).

I spent ages researching this and there are a few dual hose portable systems and they're next to impossible to get hold of unless it's commercial and they're in the thousands, there was a Honeywell one but as I said, impossible to get ahold of....these machines are flawed as hell and people buy it regardless.

That Direct bunch of websites seems to have a monopoly in the UK.

Which ever unit you buy, it’ll be too loud to sleep through, don’t worry about db’s worry about BTU’s

5000 btu is ok. Any higher is a problem

Its like anything else if you struggle with the hot weather it's a must have regardless of the noise. Nothing worse then not being able to sleep and feeling uncomfortable.

If Spring is anything to go by, we won't be needing any aircon this Summer. I'm actually still chopping logs for the burner!

Don’t want to buy one, but I’m going to. I am a miserable bugger when it’s hot and I can’t sleep

Portable AC system that uses an inverter (i.e. DC) are rare and expensive, and still have many of the same issues as any portable AC system.

Won't be this one, but do need one this summer.

Working nights now, so my bedroom must be comfortable.

If anyone has any recommendations for other brands, let us know. No issue with the noise, I sleep with ear plugs in anyway.

I know they're not as good as split units, but can't be putting a ac unit at the front of the terrace house where my room is. Plus fitting costs etc.

Another deal for a 9000btu one for £204 just popped up, which I ordered one as well. Better value than this one as you’re just giving up 10% cooling difference for £50 less.

I remember the days when electricity was cheap enough that I'd consider owning one of these...

They're still a worthwhile investment for comfort during the hottest days, and can be reasonably efficient as long as you buy the correctly sized model and installed right, and an efficient room helps (double glazing windows, insulated floor & ceiling etc); a reminder that they only run to achieve temperature then switch off, so teh idea is that you want them to achieve temperature quicker, and stay off for longer

However, if you really wanted cooling with teh best efficiency, the best route is a fixed system. It will be far more efficient for cooling and also provide cheap heating (the way to go IMO). It's what I have throughout teh house, and would never have anything else

Just my opinion; disclaimer, I install the fixed systems, so slightly biased! (edited)

They also do a 9000BTU for £239.99. Is there much difference in 1000 BTU's?

I got a HomCom one a few weeks ago and as people have stated these units are quite loud, but I think sticking it on for an hour or so before you go to bed is worth it just to take the stifling heat out of the room. As opposed to sleeping with it on full blast. decent models have sleep modes, too, where it's a bit quietr

No mention of the length or diameter of the exhaust hose.
Does anyone know where a suitable attachment can be sourced (for connecting a hose to a sash window) ?

I bought one of these last year and when is was 40 degrees it saved our bacon with a 1 year old. On for half an hour and a room temperature happy to sleep in. Then maybe incremental in the evening. Only issue Is venting them
