Yes, It's the wrong one. Most homes in the UK don't have a Neutral on the light switch and it requires Neutral

okay thanks my fault only a tenner down the drain :P, somereason my switch only has two cables, would this be a issue if purchases the uk one?... the light does work with normal switch plate on

The 2 cables are coloured correct as one will be a permanent live, It will be fine with a UK switch.

You bought the right one but you'd need a neutral to the switch (so it has live and neutral to power it) Which would probably mean chopping out the wall and running it down.

Don't worry too much about wasting £10, I've used the switch and it's crap. Luckily I already had a neutral but went back to a standard switch.

I think any of them would need a neutral.... if the switch parasitic powered (like a neon illuminated) then it risks LED bulb flicker, and would not have any power for itself when on unless it stole a few volts in series.

If the wire was in conduit in ran freely, you might be able to draw another cable through, but you'd need to know what you were doing.

PS, Only 2 wires? No earth? That's how ours used to be and needed a rewire so we could use brass (alike) switch plates with an earth, otherwise a single wire loose could make the plate live - and I still don't think we have Neutral available! (edited)
