Great deal on this watch. I purchased on Saturday for £159.99 , and thought that was a good price.

Music is not great for left handers as the Bluetooth receiver seems to be on the right for most headphones and the extra distance means it cuts out. Check how much you can sync, it's not all the storage, possibly a numerical song limit?
Also check needs reviews as I believe they have been updated to support Spotify and Deezer not just the US radio app which was the only option at launch.
"Smart" functionality is limited if you want "apps", although Garmin does have apps, they are not you usual app. No just eat on the go, get out there and run
The actual tracking and data accumulation options are very good, supports loads of extra sensors for real fitness fans. Easily readable in sunlight and battery is very good for a device that has an always on display, this is an area I believe Apple and Samsung watches fall down on.
Mobile payment works but check the supported banks, my friend had to get a really random account he tops up each month as it won't link to his current account. That said it works and he uses it everywhere without issue that I know of.
For a fitness watch this is a steal. If you want a smart fashion watch it's less suitable but will have a great battery for an always on display.
I think you can probably summarise as
Fitbit best companion app
Garmin best data collection
Apple best smart apps, worst battery
Check dcrainmaker site for a great fitness focused review on Garmin devices.
Hopefully that's accurate fair and balanced.
Last point, the grey bezzel gets silver scratches so some recommend the silver bezzel to hide this more.
I got the vivoactive 3 music when it was at £150 at Argos. I am a regular runner and I love it. I have done a half marathon with it whilst listening to music through it and it still had charge to spare.
The create training session/plan is a great tool. Created various interval training workouts for speed sessions.
Also Garmin pay is great. I used to run with my Fitbit, Samsung S8, credit card and headphones.
Now I only need my watch and my headphones. I am very impressed for the money I spent.
If you want a smart watch as a priority, iwatch
If you want a sports tracker with killer battery life, accuracy etc, then this
They are very different products
You’re right that it doesn’t work with many banks. Santander yes, but also Starling. Starling is easy to apply for it takes just a couple of minutes to open the account in app. Fee free spending overseas as well. I’ve paid with Garmin pay abroad a lot using starling and it’s been brilliant. Meant I didn’t need to take bank cards / cash to the beach.
The apple watch if you can afford it. These are really cheap looking (plasticy) when you get up close to them.
Better than looking like an iSheep though
I have my Spotify linked to my watch (got the music version of the watch) and so far have about 200 songs synced. It requires Spotify premium if you want that functionality.
The only thing I would say is you will need a screen protector as the face of the watch is raised above the bezel and would be very easy to scratch due to that
Otherwise great
