New saver tickets for Chester Zoo. Any combination of people. Online special only. Not sure how long this will last, may be the summer or could be a permanent new ticket offer.

3 people £68.16 or with 10% donation is £75
4 people £89.98 or with 10% donation is £99
5 people £109.06 or with 10% donation is £120.

Great savings oppose to standard tickets. Adults are normally £29.08 or £32 with the 10% donation.

As a registered charity, the 10% donation on top of the standard price goes towards the conservation work they do around the world. If you donate, you can also apply gift aid so they can claim an extra 25% of the ticket price back from the government at no extra cost to you.

Never understood Chester zoos gift aid situation. Most charity attractions allow you to do the gift aid donation with no extra cost to yourself. Chester charges extra for you to make an additional donation and then claims gift aid for the whole ticket price always. Jorvic Viking center for example charged no extra just required you to give your details which allowed them To claim the gift aid and they also made your ticket valid for revisits over a certain amount of time.

I looked this up after experiencing the additional charge to giftaid elsewhere and deciding they were being cheeky stunts. Apparently it's due to a change in the law regarding what they can claim gift aid on. Since they can't claim it on single entry tickets, they request a donation and in return give you entry for 'free', but the law states eligible gifts have to be more expensive.

So it's not the charities taking the Mick, it's the government. (edited)

This is easily one of the best zoos in the country, really want to visit again. Just need two friends willing to drive 3 hours or so...

Did a section of the zoo get randomly burnt , is this this now fixed. I went to see the cheetahs there and it’s impossible to see them the way they have created the ground full of
Bushes… and some reason a barrier

Yeah, fire did happen but all fixed and section open again now.
Cheetahs, like majority of animals there have a big area with a few points to see from. Enclosures made like their natural habitats

This zoo is great, we have had an annual membership for the last 5 years.

Worth also noting if you know any members you can get tickets for 50% off on select days. The prices are steep but the zoo is huge and I would imagine very expensive to upkeep.

Anyone know if they will let you change the date after you pre-book?

If you have a valid reason yeah but does have to be in certain time frame (before end of year at absolute maximum)

No, standard prices for 1 or 2 people, savings come in when you buy for 3+
Only thing for single would be to buy the standard price ticket oppose to the donation one unless you have nhs discount or a partner company discount to use (would need to show proof on purchase at ticket windows on the day)

Isn’t it normally cheaper when you buy your ticket with a train ticket ?
    AppleJack85's avatar
I don't think they do that anymore. I asked at my local station in Liverpool ages ago and I'm sure they said you have to buy it separately now

If anybody is planning on visiting it will be closed this Monday and Tuesday due to the weather

Did they come up with any substitute for Monorail? I feel it is little tiring to cover whole zoo without monorail.

Unless you want to hire a mobility scooter I’ve not seen anything else

It's annoying you have to pick a date in advance. We're not going till October so want to see what the weather is doing first
    deleted2283869's avatar
Same when you have to book the lanterns. We’re going on December to see them will it rain, snow or just be freezing ?
