Have a look on Tom Sparks website for reviews on all VPN providers

    How you pay?

I've never had a VPN. Why and when are you switching it on to use some of the 30GB allowance? Is it mainly when you're doing something like online banking?
    Chuck.Norris's avatar
    Use a VPN for Torrenting,
Location spoofing (accessing content on your video/music subscriptions that are only available in certain countries - i.e Geo-locked)
Privacy from your ISP, they can't see what you're doing,
Enabling you to subscribe to cheaper subscriptions, a-la PS/Netflix/YT Premium.

It provides an encrypted tunnel for data to pass through, so is in effect safer than without a VPN. Provided the VPN provider is legit.

    Hi All,

I am a noob & signed for the limited 3 month deal posted a little while ago - please be advised, I am not very tech or computer savvy so still *trying* to learn & understand (albeit very slowly!) about how to properly use a VPN but seem to be having problems.

I use a Mac Laptop with Mac OS operating system & despite being connected to the internet & having full WiFi, my laptop would show messages such as "You are not connected to the Internet" etc.

After much time & trying all sorts of things out, out of frustration, I shut off Windscribe & I was able to connect back to all websites & be able to use my computer - can anyone please help identify why this was happening & how I can resolve?

Also, I believe the last 30GB deal was for a limited time - can I replace it with this deal if there is no time limit on it?

    Thanks Kindly!

Did you connect to a server?
VPN software often comes with a kill switch to stop you connecting to the internet if the connection with the VPN is broken. You have to close the VPN software to get out of that. Or did your free data expire?

Hey all, I got the 'These are not the droids you are looking for' webpage after clicking on the download link.

I was hoping some helpful HUKD member might be able to provide some instructions for a bit of a noob when it come to VPN's etc?

I'd like to think I've been a fairly helpful member whenever I've been able to on HUKD's... a quick look at my profile etc would confirm this, I've not been someone who just takes and never contributes. I'm hoping someone might take some pity on me as I've been fumbling abound for over an hour now without success trying to take advantage of this offer LOL!

    Thanks all

    Try following the steps below:

    1. Click on the 'Get deal' link in this post
    2. Ignore the error message. Just click on Windscribe in the top left corner.
    3. Hover over to top right to log in to your account or sign up if you don't have an account.
    4. Punch in the voucher code under your account (or during registration).

Great VPN Service, I claimed 50GB Free a few years ago and that has been fine for me. Looks like this code will upgrade you to 30 if you were previously on a free tier with less data, but wont stack if you are already on a free tier with higher data.

    A cracking deal

If you need more GB then you can make multiple accounts and use the code (edited)
    robuk360's avatar
Be careful doing this. I tried this a few years ago and all the accounts were shut down as it broke the terms and conditions.

code works as upgraded my current free 20gb account to 30gb

Ever wondered how free vpn works and where do they get the money from? I'd stay away from any free vpn.
    2ponbackofhead's avatar
In this instance windscribe are one of the better vpns by most accounts. The free tier is to encourage conversions to pro. They are not generally thought of as data farming vpns but I get the sentiment.

Need a free VPN with an Indian server to collect to update my YouTube payment details if anyone knows of one please?
    jimger's avatar
Believe right now the Indian stuff is much stricter than a simple IP (Free Indian Vpn on play store give u Indian IP). Pia doesn't give u Indian IP (PLay store see it as Indonesian). But they do have imposed difficulties even on claiming account codes... Probably better to "move to" Turkey

ProtonVPN is free and does not need a code.

For anyone who only want VPN to protect themselves (not to bypass region lock), there’s an excellent free option Cloudflare Warp. If you don’t know who Cloudflare is, they are massive in the web security space. Most of the internet use them to avoid DDoS attacks etc. They are reputable and have the capability to provide such service for freewithout selling your private data. Go read up on them and check out their white paper.

Cloudflare warp is great, I use it when travelling which allows me to access websites that are blocked when in certain countries.

Not dubious websites, just websites that the country for whatever reason doesn't like.

Doesn't always work as it depends on certain technical things, but this is a solid product, free and reliable.

Can you install the free tier version on more than one device? Also is this available to put on a Firestick?
    Akama's avatar
Yes got it on my phone, pc and fire stick no bother.

Can someone tell me the whole point of using a VPN? I thought it was used to hide illegal activity from the user. Or is it to hide your IP address from scammers etc?
    dahokolomoki's avatar
The main use case for VPNs is security. Pretty much all companies use it on employee laptops. In many companies, you cannot access files and intranet data without first logging onto the vpn from home. This ensures the connection is secure to the laptop.

Just for info according to Windscribe ' This code is not permanent, and the extra free data will be removed from the account in the future.'

Is anyone else getting an error page when clicking on the link?

I did this with the Ukraine code a while back and got guilt trip messages that it wasn't meant for me. It was only on my mobile so I didn't feel too bad as I didn't use it much. Just worth considering if you aren't in the target group and are susceptible to guilt!
  23. Hotlipz's avatar
    What is the 30gb?

Do you get to 'VPN' 30gb worth of your internet? When you've vpn'd 30gb, you can't VPN anything else that month?
    jameshothothot's avatar
Yes. 30 GB of VPN data per month. So need to wait another month for your next Linux distro

Tempted to try this for my fire stick on tv in Tenerife to hide my IP address but worried about how safe it is. Will this have an impact on using the same wifi on laptop and mobile, I use internet banking on both items.
    jameshothothot's avatar
It won't make any difference to them

Let's say your home internet is from telefonica
your fire stick and laptop connect to the router from telefonica
all this would do is encrypt data sent to and from your firestick and your router
has nothing to do with the router and your laptop

I have a lifetime subscription since 2018 and initially Windscribe was good and even bought a static IP addon. But then after 2 years it became incredibly slow to the point where it's practically useless to me. But then it depends on what you use it for.
I started using ExpressVPN and will never go back to Windscribe.

This promo code means "Women Freedom" and has been released to help the people of Iran to fight censorship. I ended up to setup a private VPN Server for my family as there was no way of communicating with them when almost all VPNs have been stopped working, including Windscribe.

Lifetime subscription here for the past 6 years or so, have absolutely no issues whatsoever with Windscribe.

Plenty of countries and servers to choose from, user friendly, reliable, and great speeds.

    Wouldn't hesitate to recommend. (edited)
