Can’t get anywhere near to a £60 return? Averaging £150 on all dates even when choosing the cheapest times and within saver return times so they’ve either gone or I’m doing something wrong?

Can't get £60 but coming up as £54 for me.

I just clicked the 'Find out more' link on the opening page from the HDUK "get deal" button.

Same price up to 13th December (edited)

Never understood why it’s so expensive, there nothing much to do in Calais apart from a boring booze run and even then the tunnel fee makes it as expensive as just going to Tesco.

Brugge is a good trip but you’d really want to stay a night to get the most out of it.

I think it cost 'quite a bit to build' hence to return they need to get (or their bankers do)

Would i be right to be concerned about traffic getting to the tunnel (UK end)?

No problem at all apart from very peak times (It's just down the road from me).

Check here for queues (Camera sometimes off-line). Cars go down the extreme left hand lane, they don't mix with the lorries at all.

Have you got to take a vehicle when booking this? I thought they had regular train carriages for pedestrians? Don't fancy driving my car all the way to folkestone.

You need to go in a vehicle (coaches with passengers go through too) (edited)

I never understand these deals. Why is it cheaper to buy a return 6-7th Dec AND a return 11-12th Dec than it is to book a return 6-12th December. Is there anything stopping you doing this?

A while ago they added small print that you must use both tickets

Don't forget Nausicaa just down the coast road towards Boulogne. A fantastic sea life centre.

Gone are the days when a "cheap" day or weekend return was £10-£20. :/

Yep, they used to do them on particular weeks in Feb, Nov and early Dec.
Normal prices for travelling during Xmas week used to be £23 pound each way, and this was up until not long ago in Dec 2019..Now it is 4 times as much. This coupled with the increased ticket prices on Eurostar and the closure of Ashford and Ebbsfleet train stations, have made the channel crossing services a joke. Not sure who is to blame, Covid, Brexit, War in Ukraine or just the greedy capitalists at Getlink and Eurostar. Tuesday rant, done.

48932995-NDFLX.jpgIt's showing me £54 return for those departures £27 each way. Did you have a roof box/high vehicle?
If not maybe because I was logged into my account when getting the prices. (edited)

I've been on quite a few cheap coach trips through the tunnel, sometimes just day trips, other times it was a few days for the Christmas markets etc in Belgium or Germany and included a hotel, but it always seemed like great value for money. I haven't looked into it for a while so I don't know what prices are like nowadays, but I think it's worth a look at if you fancy a trip through the tunnel and don't want to drive yourself.

Calais has a huge sandy beach, nice for a winter walk. There are also some good museums/hisortoric sites, like the Blockhaus d'Eperlais (V1/V2 launch sites and massive bunkers)

Doesn't need to be a day trip. You can do over night. Just checked £54

Can you get two a week apart and use one for going and one for coming back?
