Switched from Three to this deal a couple of months back and I’m not impressed with the internet signal. Genuinely seems worse than three was which was pretty surprising

Yup. I was in birmingham and on 5g, couldn’t get more than 20mb (max).
Moved area and couldn’t get service at all. Had to pay my contract off early and switch to ID mobile.

ID now has 5G and I can get gigabit without any problems. Moral of the story, use coverage checkers and also check the area if possible to be certain it’s reliable.

If you are already in a contract with O2 can you take this one out or do you have to wait till your current one is finished?

You can take it out as an upgrade existing number. It’s an option when you go through the link.

I’m a current O2 customer with active volt. If I renew to this deal do I have to activate volt again ? Also got a 2nd sim for my gf so wondering if that gets affected also ? Appreciate anyone with any experience of these.

    Thanks

Volt stays on virgin media until the end of your contract with virgin, they don’t remove it.

If O2 works for you and especially where you spend most of your time then it’s a great deal, however, personally I wouldn’t. Both my parents are on O2 and it is near enough impossible to call them, whether they are home or out and about. On the recent trip we took together they also didn’t have data or a very weak signal 90% of the time whereas I had no issues with EE whatsoever. That being said EE is notoriously expensive and their retention offers are honestly laughable (I am out of contract soon), 3 months half price on a 24 month contract might be the best joke I’ve heard recently.

How does this work for existing customers, I am out of contract on my 20Gb ( 40 Fb with volt) sim only deal with 02 so free to cancel anytime, but if I can get another 20Gb and reduce my monthly cost it would be good

I don't remember how it works, but my contract ended, and I've renewed it twice via uswitch. I think it either asks you at some point during the 'application' if you need a new sim or keep your number. If it does not, once you receive the new sim, you text your number to O2 in order to transfer your existing number on the new sim. It will be straightforward.

How does porting my number from three looks like, and do I just call three to cancel the contract and agree with O2 plan start date?
    rofluk's avatar
    rofluk
You don’t need to speak to anyone to transfer a number anymore.

text ‘PAC’ to 65075 on your 3 phone.

Fill out the online form with O2 and tell them the PAC code. o2.co.uk/hel…orm

When your PAC is used 3 will close your account automatically. (edited)

This seems to be a special deal between hotukdeals & uswitch, so it looks like you won't be able to claim Quidco or TCB. You can easily tell by viewing the hyperlink below which shows hotuldeals campaign words within it:

I've always been PAYG previously... what happens at the end of 12 months? Does it continue at the same price or do you get forced onto a difference package?
    MoneySavingPunjabi's avatar

It converts into a 30 day rolling contract til you decide to cancel

It remains the same price (including any price rise)

Anyone tried getting cashback via Quidco for this?

I’m trying Quidco > Uswitch > but then this deal doesn’t show up. Only the 20gig shows up.

It's the same for me, and probably everyone. You choose the extra when it's all set up and you set up the online account.

I've been with three for a number of years now. My contract is due for renewal so thought I'd run this deal past them (via live chat/support).

They offered me the same deal 30gb/unltd mins and text/12mnth contract at £8pm. Just a heads-up.

you can also do think via the link in this thread without a call if you're already on o2. just say upgrade current number, don't get new sim. goes through straight away. i was on a previous 12 month contract and my OH is on 12 month contract, ending march - we were both able to get this with a 2 min checkout process.

    royalkay's avatar

No idea.. but it does take time for the sim to come as theres a load of delays in the postal system. I say buy now, then swap. With ee you can request a pac 45 days prior to end date

Click on the deal and it brings you to the O2 website. It will ask you if you are using the sim on iPhone etc.
Click on check out, then log into your O2 account.
You can upgrade your current contract or have the sim card delivered to you.

I just called o2 service as I'm existing customer and asked them if they can match this deal ...
apparently the link here is working properly but if you try to manual search for the 30gb deal it became 10£pm so they declined to match it.

a quick update on the situation for EXISTING customers (like me)

clicking the link do the whole procces and on checkout select that you are already customer .
an error message is gonna appear but you will have the option to open a live support chat for help .
I upgrade my contract yesterday thru the chat ....
sent them the link that it's been provided here on ukdeals they gonna match it !
    8£ per month for 60gb it's nice !

This deal still works. Initially did the 40gb deal then saw this, switched right away as I've only ever used 20gb max in last 12 months so pointless paying the extra

    Thanks OP

There might be a way to beat the inflation… so near the time upgrade or downgrade the current plan.

then come back here after the hike and upgrade it back to this plan… though itll only work, if you have had the sim 3 months, as o2 allow you to upgrade and downgrade the once 3 months pass.

Lots of comments about O2 signal. It really depends where you are, O2 is the only provider that has any kind of signal where I live and it is the best for coverage in the county. EE and Three being the worst in the area.

    Hot from me, just upgraded
