What's the difference between this model and the T480s?

T480s is slimmer, only has one slot of replaceable ram, has less CPU configurations, a non removable batteryand has one m.2 drive.

T480 has dual batteries (meaning you can buy a huge capacity external battery life and triple your battery size) you can also swap the battery while the laptop is running.

    The t480 will also take a m.2 2440 ssd alongside the original m 2/ssd.

Both are available with touch screens. Both are highly upgradeable laptops. If you are not doing very intense things then go for the i5 over the i7 because the i7 tends to overheat.

Buying replacement parts for both laptops is really easy and lenovo has built it with ease of servicing in mind.

Why not get the t14 instead? They are much more powerful but the t480 was the last of the series to have the removable battery and replaceable ram.

Beware bought similar one from itzoo, battery doesn't hold charge, so beware with used laptops.

Itzoo sent me a laptop with a knackered battery. One email later and they sent a brand new official one free of charge. Worth an email!

Ah, its a small screen. I need 15.6 with my eyes.
Do they have anything bigger that is still upgrade/replace able? (edited)

You're looking for a P52 or a T580, probably (Or ideapad 5, dell xps maybe?)

I am starting a software developer academy evening class in a few weeks and after a new laptop without breaking the bank. I will be doing JavaScript and python.

Will this be suitable or any other recommendations under £500

You don't need a powerful laptop for that sort of thing. This would be perfect

Processing wise, these are still great. The major thing for me is that screens have moved on so much. Once you've had OLED, you ain't gonna wanna go back.

Screen will indeed be the major negative, but the keyboard is top notch and this will outlast a £300 laptop bought from Currys, so as something to type on these are great.

Thanks. Ordered one earlier and after ordering did some research and this laptop has amazing upgrade options. Check reddit there are quite a few upgrades through aliexpress. Like glass trackpad, IPS screen, bigger heatsink, etc all quite cheap. Only the cpu is soldered, rest are v easy to swap out. If the refurb laptop comes quite scratched outside i have heard you can buy all the seperate external case pieces quite cheap too

Has it got a wwan card

On the eBay listing only shows LAN & WLAN so it's fair to assume this model doesn't come with an integrated WWAN module.

Help. I want a decent laptop screen to watch movies on. I bought a business laptop but the screen looks dull. What spec do I look for?
    joners's avatar
    joners
Something without a matt screen (most business laptops have this) and a higher screen resolution. Check the deals that pop up and then look for YouTube reviews of that model to see what it’s like.

The laptop, CPU, memory will be fine, but expect hit and miss regarding battery life.
