Be careful if your afraid of heights.
Some of those seats in the circle are high and very very steep.

I was at the very very top row

    not great for some scenes.

I've seen this show twice now. First time with the £15 seats listed here, and then front row seats when I won the Friday Forty lottery.

Firstly, the £15 seats are very high up and there is very, very little leg room. I was sat right at the front, overlooking the balcony, so some of the stage was blocked by some lighting. Luckily, some people who were meant to sit next to me were TOO YOUNG to sit that high on their own so were moved elsewhere, which meant I could stretch out a bit. I would suggest that if you are tall, a larger person, prone to achey joints- go for some higher priced seats.

For the front row, naturally it was a much better view but as it's a high stage, you still had some of the back of the stage cut off- not a massive issue but some "effects" do take place at the back. If you're short, like my partner was, you might have to sit up a little to see those properly. All the leg room you could wish for too.

No Harry Potter *book* fan worth their salt thinks this story is canon, in any way. The story itself is a bad fan fiction, I honestly have no idea why or how JK Rowling $igned off on it. With that said, the production was fantastic both times, the effects I've never seen on stage and I would happily go watch it a third time (just not in the nosebleed seats). Both times the actor for Scorpius has stolen the show- everyone else is great too, but Scorpius takes the biscuit. I'd say if you have watched the films or read the books it's worth seeing at least once. Oh, also if you're going to buy merch- wait until Part 2 before you decide anything.

There's a lot of fans in chronic denial then, given that it absolutely is canon., and they're in the early stages of developing a film version of it.

Nice of you to speak for all of us though. I worried for a minute that some of us might have differing opinions!

The West End totally wasted COVID, perfect chance to gut and reseat the theatres for 21st century adults rather than the Victorian midgets they were designed for.

They seem to be stuffing in more seats wherever they can. I especially like the 'AA' rows next to the stage - like the one shown here...

Really enjoyed the show. Booked the £15 tickets and they really are up in the gods with v little legroom. After the first show we upgraded or tickets for the evening performance and had much better seats.
    TMelt's avatar
Were the upgraded seats discounted as they were otherwise empty that evening or was it quite a hefty cost to upgrade?

Worst venue I have ever been to. It's so steep and you feel that you are miles away from the stage and I couldn't see a thing apart from the persons head in front. Tried to make a complaint but theatre not interested.

Gotta use the seat guru site which shows the view from most seats at most venues. But yeah the theatre is around 125 years old so it will be cramped since people were smaller back then. Like 80% of the seats are decent though. As long as the person in front is considerate then it's fine.

Although yeah I do think it could have been directed a bit better. Like lots of people can't see the edges of the stage, and some of the front, so why then have the actors stand at the sides of the stage when theres nothing going on in the middle?? Have them stand in the middle whenever possible and only use the edges when needed. It just comes across like the director has never sat anywhere other than in the very best seats, which is probably true but you'd expect them to check what the view is like of their show from the "bad" seats too. Just seems low effort thats all which is weird because the show is really well done otherwise.

They cut the show into two parts?
    Grogu's avatar
Yeah it's nearly 6 hours. Read some really bad reviews online - actors look bored, awful seating, rubbish plot.

My daughter loves Potter so probably will still take her, just looked at seating, is garbage for £15 like you'd expect, can get decent seats for 80-100

Nice that they're offering cheap seats, but they seem to be the worst ones.

Out of interest, are seats in the stalls better for kids? I looked at taking the family to see Grease last year, but it would have cost nearly £800 for 4 decent seats! Do people actually pay that, or am I missing a trick when it comes to family trips to the theatre?
    CaptainSlog's avatar
I agree. London theatre prices are crazy. I guess lots pf tourists pay it. You may get cheap deals via TodayTix if you book on the day. O2 sometimes sell half price theatre vouchers (eg £80 voucher for £40).

If you are outside London try your local theatre. Mine has brilliant shows and often sell tickets on front two rows for just £12 which is superb value and often a better experience than the West End. (edited)

Try the Friday Forty. I managed to get front row seats for £40 (both parts) after a month of trying. Missed a few things at the bottom front of the stage (it's quite high) but got splashed by Potter.

Well done on getting tix thru the Friday forty!

Watched it last week! Loved it. It was done so well...
A must watch if you're even slightly interested

Please say when you found stall seats for £25 please? I saw this a while back with my sister up high in the rafters and it was my favourite theatre experience so far - would love to go back with my wife!

It was in the February on a Tues or Wed. I’m sure they will have them earlier they were just the dates I was looking at.

Also quite a few front and 2nd row balcony seats for £15 (edited)

dammit booked - wife's birthday present.

The first half was slow and character building. The second part was brilliant. Loved it.

Booked for September - thanks for the heads up!

Sat in £15 seats a few years ago. Legroom awful, and absolutely avoid any that say limited view - they really mean it. Sometimes half the stage was obscured by a railing or pillar, it was pretty dreadful.

Not a great story, either. The practical magic effects are good, and that's about it.

We were lucky to get front row seats through a lottery on the same day for £25.

Part 2 is a bit naff. But the ending of part 1 is epic
    Kasia29's avatar
What lottery? Could you please explain
  16. robmiller667's avatar
It's a great show and that's coming from someone who is not a huge Harry Potter fan.... my missus is though and she loved it as did my 13 yo nephew
  17. Franzkill's avatar
Have the actually fixed the story so it doesn't feel like a lousy fanfiction?
    drumboe's avatar
    No
  18. Gztsby's avatar
heard terrible things about this, anyone that's seen it have any insight?
    xhawker's avatar
I watched it recently in reasonably good seats, probably second or third price bracket and we was on the ground floor at stage level, visually really impressive and the sense transitions were also impressive
I recommend if you are interested in potter

I saw this about two year ago, it was torture, the seats were nearly up in the roof and the space between the rows was so small that I had to sit with my feet twisted sideways through the whole show, it's incredible that they can still get away with selling seats where the stage is only partly visible and a full grown adult can't walk between the rows without performing gymnastics.
    Grogu's avatar
Cheap seats though? Surely the £100 ones near stage are better? What about the show itself, any good?

They make it sound so unappealing. If its anything like the theatre that shows/showed Aladdin, then that was the worst 2 hours+ I've ever had to sit through

I thought this was the palace theatre in Manchester
  22. batvink's avatar
This is a bit niche, how many people have got a cursed child wanting a theatre ticket?
Not sure how it got so hot.
  23. MungoSplodge's avatar
I found parts of this really interesting... the special effects were out of this world, some genuinely felt like actual magic was being performed in front of you. The venue is ok, but the seating is so steep and so small that sitting for 6 hours felt like a lifetime. And i went in July and the theatre was so stuffily hot i was slumbering most of the way through the 2nd half.

I didnt mind the story, but im not a huge Potterhead so wasnt that protective of the canon.
