Very kind great for nhs staff living in London
Oooh good spot @Winkelsteen (y) Thanks for sharing <3
Thanks for sharing.
My favourite opera too, seen it three times live before, as mentioned some really memorable tunes and great characters like papageno
Agree wholehearted. Mind blowing genius beyond comprehension on 🌍 . If anyone on here hasn’t listened or seen it google Diana Damrau ‘Queen of the Night’ listen to it four times in succession to give it a fair chance and then challenge anyone not to find them self humming it a day later . You may prefer a version in English , my kids did when they first saw it, if English is your first language, but imo as it’s written to for German language libretto, it sounds better in German.
My favourite opera. I'd like to have some of whatever Mozart must have been on when he wrote this.
Fascinating opera, not set in a particular historical period, but the opera is strongly influenced by the ideas of Freemasonry. Both Mozart and Schikaneder were Freemasons, an organisation that taught self-improvement and philosophy through participation in a progression of ceremonies.
Seconded although I just watched it on the screening, I thought the story was fantastic and the production was spot on too
I thought Small Island was incredible when I saw it last year, definitely in my top 3 of all time theatre experiences
Think short answer is no. For what it’s worth, my sister saw it and said it was shocking!!
We saw Amadeus a while back in the theatre, would highly recommend, we will be rewatching it!
Lovely little free stream here @Frog100 Thanks for sharing!
Can you stream your own webcam back so that you can have the thrill of a secret posh blowwie?
Been looking forward to this - thank you
Thanks OP (y)
Yep, never available that I can find to buy let alone stream for free... would love it.
Getting to watch Wicked again on this would be amazing. We can hope, after all Hamilton is coming to Disney Plus.
This is really disappointing from sky. It’s very misleading as I did think it was the full shows. For anyone that would like to watch a full show, The Sound of Music is on YouTube here:
"Missing the buzz of the theatre? Enjoy a taster from this hilarious and fun-loving musical, & Juliet known for its pop anthems from the past 30 years." Yeah I signed up expecting something more, but it appears to be more of a "taster" or advert for the shows with the off song and interviews with the crew that you could likely find on youtube or the theatre website.
Maybe i was a tad harsh, I was just expecting something more, especially since it's only for Sky customers only.
That's a shame, but where does it say that? My wife & daughter have wanted to see & Juliet for a while now.
hope they stick them on NowTV
it is on youtube usually if u can bear sifting through the mass of uploaded high school performances. lol kara tointon
The music and songs lifted my heart today
Glad they are still offering stage shows for free but wow this was bad for one reason, Carrie Underwood, she can sing but her acting is abysmal... Made it half way then hit the stop button, just couldn't watch anymore....... Watched A street car named desire the other day with Gillian Anderson which was amazing...
for sados who also enjoy morris dancing
Watched... Enjoyed.. Perfect, thanks (y)
Saw this live. A good adaptation of a classic.
Great thank you
Best I can do to replicate the grand, dare I say eggstravagent, auditorium, will be to enjoy a creme egg while watching the show.
Canard à l'orange based on orange duck (lol) (lol) (lol) Heat added.
Stop egging them on
You're not yolking
With puns like this I think we're going to end up with egg on our faces ;)
You can usually open the YouTube app on your phone, play a video, and if your TV is connected to the same network, click the little "casting" icon on the top right corner and it will suggest some devices on your network - which hopefully includes your TV - and it will play on that! I find it so much easier to navigate to content on the phone than trying to use the Fire stick remote or the TV's (although my Fire stick you can just talk into and it plays it - which still childishly amuses me!).
Sinclair was of coursewell known for producing the C5, but I thought it was a pretty terrible street car myself
National Theatre is an absolute National Treasure (not the NIc Cage one). They are going thru some tough times - despite being at the forefront of dramatic arts and stage craft - and may not make it out the other end of this c19 apocalypse (this is according to the Director of the NT). Either way, stage shows and how it works out will be changed as many venues will simply not be able to reopen or reschedule shows or the myriad logistics around things that were in progress but just cant now be done. The economic and craftmanships cost is huge. Suggest we support with donations - or lobby BoJo and his cronies to do the right thing.
What, Love Never Dies? I wouldn't say that it was absolutely awful but I having finally seen it, I'm still not really sure why it even needed to exist. I skipped the compilation concert and that ridiculous PG Woodhouse Jeeves thing but I really enjoyed watching Cats on there last night.
I've seen this show twice. Loved it twice. Not quite sure why I hated it on the small screen. Beverly Knight would have blown Elaine Page off the stage in Memory.
It was absolutely awful, wasn't it?
Lloyd Webber is a berk. Pass it on.
You can just watch it from the beginning now (if you're quick!).
Great.... Having seen the show in the West End, if you are a Small Faces / Steve Marriot fan this is a must watch. All of the hits and some great laughs. It tells the rich story of Marriot and the band from the start right through to his untimely death. Its a show that really captures the spirit of the time through the music, fashion and props of the show. Let's face it what else is there to do!!
Only lists 3 songs, must be more. I'll still watch it though. Any easy to record it??
Brilliant, thank you, looking forward to seeing that. I'll get my Parka out. (y) (y) (y) (y) (y)
Excellent Heat :D
Thanks theredcol. I've subscribed and downloaded my first audio play - it is about a nurse's experience at the front in WWI. This is an excellent resource, should be known more widely.
Never heard of them or the their 'actors'. I doubt that there's "1,000s" of their very own 'Award-winning plays' " available. But I'd be pleased to be proved wrong. Were any of the plays not award-winners?
Turn off CC before watching...a bad word popped up near the end...😧
Reminds me of this
Excellent :) All this free content is kinda crazy, but fantastic that so many people can see these things which usually cost an arm and a leg. Don't forget National theatre Live are putting out content every Thursday :)
Hate musicals but if this is your thing go for it.
Thanks for the heads up. Recommended for ages 14+. https://royalcourttheatre.com/whats-on/cyprus-avenue-2016/
Saw this at the RC - Stephen Rea is superb
This is an excellent production but a very tough play to watch ... adult violent theme ... I studied it as part of my Open University writing course
The continuing schedule is detailed here.
The Met Opera streams continue this week, with Verdi's Aida tonight. A moderator or automated systems appear to have removed my ability to amend the deal or add additional info, so I have put this as a comment.
I haven't finished a Met Opera yet, but I've really enjoyed having them alongside my work so far. Tannhauser tonight, and the morrow, as it were.
repost or not, I am on here daily and do not recall seing it (or similar) fantastic deal and whilst I am not traditionally a fan, its four hours of entertainment and may be very enjoyable/informative/educational
Yes, obviously, so ask the OP on the other thread, like I did...
excellent! I very much enjoyed it.
Excellent show, well made, watched it on YouTube last night - what an immersive experience! Great acting - I was impressed by James Corden’s performance. Highly recommended.
Show was brilliant last night and you've got a week to watch it now :) It is quite a long play (2 hours 40) but very funny and well acted :)
Wow this is cool, thanks for the heads-up OP :)
Thank you - I have put the dates in my diary (popcorn) (popcorn)
