    Will this work with a Crucial P3 1000GB PCIe M.2 2280SS SSD?

    I have just sent mine back with Crucial P5. It became so hot that it toasted the drive and the thermal putty-like pad that is inside of the enclosure electronics compartment started leaking through the vents. Seems it is not an isolated case. The drive died and, sadly, the enclosure died too.

    I have this very drive with a Samsung evo 970 , it draws about 1gbps speeds on transfers if you swap out the bundled in cable for something a little better. The cable you get with it ( USB-C ) gets about 800mbps. I used a WD cable that came with a Dual RAID HDD box I own directly into the back of the Mac mini.

    if you drop them the M2 tends to come out of it's slot - the rubber bung holding it in place isn't very effective. Easy to fix, just open it and push it back in - but a bit worrying when your machine sees a non-accessible disk.
