Critics Consensus
Dune occasionally struggles with its unwieldy source material, but those issues are largely overshadowed by the scope and ambition of this visually thrilling adaptation. Read critic reviews

Audience Says
Denis Villeneuve's Dune looks and sounds amazing -- and once the (admittedly slow-building) story gets you hooked, you'll be on the edge of your seat for the sequel. Read audience reviews

    *Spoilers*.

Is it just me that thinks the Yueh plot was ridiculous? An entire kingdom's demise, because their security protocols are so weak that they allow a *doctor* (1 person!) to disable their one defense against incoming obliteration? *Really??!*

It's like giving one of the king's footguards the codes to launch nuclear missiles if he so choses.

It was such a slow movie up to that point anyway, it completely lost me at that point. Amongst the weakest plot writing I've ever seen in movies.

So having just watched it recently and read the book last year. A lot of details were skipped. So the symbol on his forehead showed he was a special type of doctor from the Royal Court, I think.

The idea was they were 100% loyal and couldn't be broken. The Harkonnens broke him, it was a first. And had never been done before.

The mentat, human computer, guy who's eyes rolled back and did the calc, was trying to figure out who the traitor was but had ruled out the doctor as it couldn't be him, so that led him to assume it was Jessica.

The Atriedies also hit the Harkonnens first and destroyed their spice reserves, they just didn't expect the Harkonnens to spend 80 years worth of spice harvest to destroy them. They had 0 chance.

The book I think starts with the harkonnen discussion for invasion, so you see the whole thing coming and know the Atreidies are doomed.

No it's not. Not sure why they say that but definitely not steelbook

Decent price but I opted for the steelbook they have at £17.99 instead.

These cardboard disc holders just end up quite tattered over time. (edited)

This special edition or the regular one?

The steelbook is currently only £17 from HMV, with free delivery to store. Lovely artwork IMHO. Who needs all those extra bits and bobs that you look at once and then put back in the box and put it on the shelf. I suppose the same can be said for steelbooks: Q. Who needs the steel version when the plastic version contains the exact same discs? A. I do! I'm a sucker for a steel, especially at this price, its a real...

Is there any extra on disc content (over and above the standard 4k releases?)

Waiting and hoping they release the imax version on disc

I'm a sucker for limited editions, steelbooks and packaging gimmicks and this one is, tbh, one of the poorer ones I've ever bought. It's just a quite plain, printed cardboard box and the artwork reproductions included are only so-so quality.

Bloomin' good film though and the 4K transfer is, barring some oddities with my particular brand of TV, amazing. But if I were buying again I'd probably opt for one of the steelbooks combined with getting the full "Art and Soul of Dune" book, or I'd simply wait and see what they release when Part 2 is on home "video". That's a crazy edition... If only I haven't gone for 4k steelbook some time ago...
