A soundbar I've been eyeing up over the past few weeks and comparing to a few others. Reviews say it's pretty decent for RRP (£350) so at £279 it seems like a good deal.

Would this be any good for a 70" TCL TV for watching Netflix, prime etc? Not really tech savvy when it comes to these things!!

Yes this will do you fine. If you've not used dedicated speakers or a soundbar before you'll be amazed at the sounds you don't hear when using just the TV speakers. Or I was when I first got a sound bar years ago.

Other alternatives you could look at that are a similar price are the two below:

    1) amazon.co.uk/dp/…VKX

    2) amazon.co.uk/dp/…VKX

This only handles dolby and pcm stereo. So if youre watching physical media with dts/pcm 5.1 youll only get stereo sound. If its just for streaming it should be fine as streamers use pcm 2.0 or dolby.

Surprising as quite a few of the reviews seem to say it's up there at the price range.

What didn't you like about it? And did you replace it with anything that you think is much better?

    Heat added, good price.

Just gutted it doesn't have Dolby Atmos

It's a pain but your not going to be getting anything close to Atmos at this price point, even if it supports the format.

Is there any lag when it comes to the wireless speaker

So I have an old home cinema system Sony Ht-SS1100 that I’m looking to replace. Am I right in thinking as long as I connect this to the optical out on my TV anything else delivering Dolby via HDMI will go to this?

In theory that sounds right to me, would use HDMI port but in order to use HDMI I would need to connect to the eARC port which is one of only 2 on my TV that suppose the full bandwidth because, Sony.

Ok the TV is 5 years old but not replacing that unless it breaks lol.

    Am I missing something?

The tv manual should confirm what sources will be output via optical and in what formats.

For example some Sony TVs accept Dolby Digital signals via HDMI but will only output those signals as stereo PCM via optical. Something about the conversion from hdmi to optical triggers their piracy protection.

Argos had it this price over the weekend. Tempted to get it but I want Atmos which my soundbar has. Would this be better?

Atmos is a brand rather than a standard of quality.

My old phone had atmos but it was just pseudo surround.

Your bar may have virtual vertical sound or it may have upfiring speakers using the ceiling to bounce sound at you.

This system is v basic and i dont mean that in a dismissive way. Your bar could be similar, lower or higher quality.
