That's actually not a bad price considering it's got some 105 bits, shame the brakes aren't though. An even better price with a Blue Light Card. Heat added.

Braking is overrated anyway. It doesn't help you go faster

I was going to buy the Giant from tredzs a couple of weeks back, I have a blue light card, but I settled on a Merida Scultura 400 with full 105 groupset for £880

I had to take the bike to my local bike shop as the gears weren't set up and the gears and brake cables hadn't been cut to length or had the cable ends clamped on to them.

Still a good deal all considering

Giant is also a good deal OP (edited)

I know I should learn, it's actually something I'm going to once I go partial retirement next year

The Merida steerer tube has still to be cut, handlebars are slightly too high, so going with a negative stem.

Bikes are only allowed in the house as I'm off for a family holiday to Majorca tomorrow 😃

For anyone wondering the Dura Ace gears are the best but the 105 are perfectly acceptable for day to day riding (edited)

Good deal, but personally I never buy a new bike - can often pick them up a year or two old in as new condition for half the price on Gumtree / eBay etc. Had the old Defy 1 2012 and it was very good so can vouch for this as it’s replacement.

I almost had my mind made up on the RC520 from Decathlon. Is this worth paying more? I'm a complete newb - runner and MTBer who's trying to get into roadies.

Isn’t this bike twice the price of the RC520? You’ve either got a budget or you haven’t? Why stop here? Go for a dura ace group set bike

I know people are saying this is a good deal but I’m reminded that my first car cost less
