I have a few Google devices around the house but they've started to get very annoying since the end of last year. They either don't understand my commands or understand it wrong, which makes me consider switching them to Alexa. Can anyone compare both systems? And also is there a way to trade in or switch google devices to Alexa or should I try to sell them?

Alexa is pretty bad for those things too, I’m thinking of ditching the whole system and getting an apple or sonos

I read yesterday that sales of Alexa's had fallen off the cliff. I think it was the boss of Currys. He was a bit gloomy about sales generally due to the higher costs everyone is now experiencing.

I think in general he was saying all smart speakers sales are falling off. Maybe reaching the saturation point of those who want have older models and see no reason to upgrade.

Good deal but my hue lights just stopped working with Alexa and the targeted ads are getting unreal, not sure I want her staring in my bedroom now too

My Alexa -> hue setup has been so temperamental recently. I bet if it was all factory reset it would be fine(annoyed)

Have always been quite tempted by these sorts of devices but trying to think of a single thing/advantage of this over just using my phone on a stand. Wouldn't mind POV from people that own them of anything that these devices are better at.

Usually better audio quality and louder. You can use these as mains-powered Bluetooth speakers if you wish.

I've got an Echo Dot in every room of the house and stream music to them (usually all at once rather than individually). I've also got one of the older Echo Show 5 devices and wouldn't buy another - it's so sluggish to respond and mic pickup is worse than the Dots - I don't use the camera or screen functionality, but if I did, a phone on a stand would probably be a nicer experience. Well, if buying to use in the kitchen I'm pretty sure you can't get Sky GO on it...which is a deal breaker for me (...when I say me I mean the missus of course :))
