    I had the Kindle Oasis but swapped it for one of these (didn't like the one sided controls)

    The wireless charging is great and the battery life is much better than my previous PaperWhite.

    I've never understood why these devices are so expensive when all you can do is use it for reading.

    Not a design/hardware/production - more a monopoly captive market price. One thinks this is only the beginning, as a user gets more entrenched into any eco system, the supplier will ramp up prices. Rented can only be sold in short term with attractive prices, and can only make money in long term with captive audience and price rises. PaperWhite was a fair bit cheaper 12-18 months ago.
