Anyone know if they putting a proper always-on-display on these now, or is it still for 10 seconds only like on other cheaper xiaomi phones?

There is a way to keep it on permanently during daytime, but you have to activate the developer mode and then change settings. I found the instructions via Google and followed them.

Bought the Poco X5 pro from Amazon yesterday, wondering whether to cancel and buy this now as £30 cheaper (edited)

I am no expert POCO X5 PRO has definitely got the edge over this in terms of ram, test scores, later release etc Worth extra £30 imho

    This or Samsung a34?
    Neostar's avatar
The A34 as it has longer updates

Seems like value for money has really gone down hill the last few years. Have had a redmi note 9s for three years and paid £140. Was looking for an upgrade for similar price recently and can't really find anything. Xiaomi been good budget phones is definitely a thing of the past.

    Exactly feeling the same here....

The great thing about xiaomi is they made really good phones for a really good price. Now they're really good phones for a really average price. This needs to be sub £175 before I would consider it

Got to be the best value phone for £250

not hard all the prices now are poor including this one.

a year or so ago this would have been close to £200

no card slot as usual, you can't buy anything with one in these days, the EU needs to force them to add memory card slots too.

Aaargh, was just about to order 8gb version from Trippodo, but that would come with EU plug of course, decisions decisions! Anyone here used them?

Thanks to OP for giving me credit for the code. Credit really goes to for this legendary code. What I came to say is that as the OP's checkout screenshot shows, the code has expiry date of 1/1/2024 and seems to work on various Xiaomi products, so if it works out more than £10 new customer code for any product then obviously worth using. Much heat for this deal as price point edging near AliExpress and other faraway places 🔥

This or the Samsung from yesterday for 224, Sammy looks dated but is waterproof. Can a coupon be used in top of these discounts? (edited)

If you have over 1000 mi points, you can add those aswell

Is 6bg ram enough though? Many newer phones are coming now with 8gb plus
    malarkeymarc's avatar
2gb/3gb ram extension on Xiaomi phones. It's effective enough on my old x3 NFC, but obviously not as good as base 8gb.

Great price as always from the man !
Am I being really stingy or really stupid for holding out for this to go to £200.
    Probably both ! 😁

Oh Dear, on 30th June, I bought a new oppo reno8 light for £219 from Amazon, would love to return it and buy this instead. However the Amazon terms say new items must be returned unused and undamaged condition Shame.
    manonfireatbar's avatar
Just say it has a dead pixel or something. Message via the app chat and get an assistant to approve the return.

Amazon don't care as long as you send something back. (edited)

When it's not snapdragon, always puts me off

Mediatek have improved drastically over the last two years. They are currently at basically the same level and have put out flagship chips that have beat snapdragons flagships within the last year (edited)

    anyone else had this problem?

    thanks

Is it better than Poco F3? I can have it for £210 with mi points (edited)
    chancooluk's avatar
Nope. Camera is better on the Redmi, but using a Gcam mod app on the Poco improves photo quality drastically (GCam is not available on the mediatek Redmi).

Otherwise the Poco is the better phone overall. (edited)

with all these xiaomi/poco phones, which is the one with the best camera? lots of deals on but struggling to find something with the cameria quality as thats where, imo, these phones are let down.
