Pre-order started for the new Galaxy Z Fold5.
Pretty much the same as the Z Fold4, except for the gapless hinge (ok, this one is pretty big), updated Snapdragon 8 gen 2 chipset, which probably helps battery life compared to the Fold4, brighter inner screen, some minor camera tweaks and a sleeker (optional) S-pen.
Battery size, charging speed, etc is the same as the Fold4 (4400mAh, 25W).
Oh, and it's also a bit less thick and heavy.

So... Incremental improvements I'd say.

    Trade in deals far less generous this year. Still 1100 trading in a z fold 4 which is a bit stingy. Think I was 700 to upgrade from 3 to 4. I likely wouldn't have traded anyway as upgrades are so incremental.

    Can't wait to go back to phablets. Fold are not worth it. I have a fold 4 and the front screen is way too small and I barely use the big screen. This is because most apps aren't optimised for big screens it gathered dust easily. And the cases are horrible. Can't wait to go back to the s24 ultra next year

    I never had foldable but I would love one. I was going to get fold 5, but looking now at Honor Magic V2 which looks as if it's 2 generations ahead of Fold 5 - I will wait for it. I red that Honor is trying to expedite a global launch so fingers crossed it will be quick ..

    Not impressed with Unpacked event, TBH. Especially when price has gone up and very minimal changes to hardware in foldables (except that smaller gap or no gap at all) or watches. They advertised sleep tracking most on new watches, but this is just software and it stays the same or minimal updates expected and Watch5 will get it too. And sleep tracking is complete rubbish on Samsung watches; for me it says most of the nights that I am awake some 47mins or 1h42mins and this is complete nonsense. Apple Watch shows only between 7 and 23 mins. on same nights. Tested many times wearing both watches.

    My main gripe is that they haven't upped the battery or the charging speed. If they'd have crammed in a 5000mAh+ battery and quicker charging speed, I'd definitely buy one. Now I'm just... thinking about it.
    But I agree, they didn't show anything huge, it's just a normal incremental/iterative update for pretty much everything.

    Still thinking of upgrading but only have the following discounts:

    • Free storage upgrade (256GB to 512GB)
    • 10% off when bundled with Tab S9
    • I got a 10% off voucher on top of that (edit: Does not work)
    • 5% cashback from Quidco
    • Cashback by using Samsung Pay+ card

    So looking at paying around £1570 for a 512GB fold 5 + 256GB Tab S9 with trade in (fold 4 + tab S5e). My main concern is no free Samsung Care+ this year and I always have a problem with the hinge with my fold 3 and fold 4 although they always used the warranty for that not the Care+.

    btw Smasung Pay+ no longer pays out, Curve repetadely don't pay cashback anymore, so ensure you have it and there is evidence for it. Because Curve team don't care.

    So my brothers birthday is coming up and he has just ordered the 47mm watch classic for £399 ive told him that if i order on student beans website i can get money off and also ill pay a bit off for his birthday if he cancels but am i mad paying £1497 for the 1tb Samsung fold5 as i had the fold4 and sold it for the s23 ultra but now i miss the fold lol i dont know what to do as o2 who i am with want £300 upfront and £80 a month if i upgrade which i think is stupid lol

    Don't do it!!

    Even if you have money to throw, that would be such a waste.

    Just wait another month or two, the trade in offers will improve significantly, especially once Samsung see their sales figures tank.

    Here is the page to get free buds 2 pro with Preorder's before 31st July, it doesnt show on main Samsung page that you get these but it does on the student page but im sure it will just go by your serial number and the shop you bought from. I got mine direct from Samsung main site as i got a better deal with them using trade in etc. Lets hope it works as will sell to get more money off the phone lol
