Got the PS5, you can also sell your free game for a fiver and buy other games for 20, 30 and onwards. Also sold my extra PS4 controller for 22 pounds. You can also sign for membership and gain more points for future purchases.

If I’m reading right, a standard 500gb PS4 isn’t a console you can trade in as part of this deal?
    NeilRice's avatar
You can trade in a original 500gb and you would have to pay £319:99

Just in case it helps anyone else, popped into the Chesterfield store today to enquire about the trade-in requirements and was advised that:

When I asked about trading my PS4 in without an official controller, they confirmed that they wouldn't accept 3rd party alternative controllers of any kind and also the condition of an official controller (i.e quality of the thumb sticks & other buttons) was required to be in a good/re-sellable condition as well as the console being functional.

When I asked about trading in my OG V1 Switch instead (to get the higher £150 trade in value), I confirmed that there was no requirement whatsoever to include the box for it, the only requirement was to ensure that the console and all of its accessories that typically come with it to be present and functional, obviously no cosmetic issues to the Switch's screen as well as again, it needs to be in a re-sellable condition.

Finally, from the trade in information Game provided in store, this promotion is expected to end on the 10th of August, I'm not sure if this is also the date when Sony may also be pricing it back at its previous cost of £479 though.
    mossmanfly's avatar
Yes 10th August is when Sony's promotion will end. So price will probably go back to £480 and all these deals will disappear as they are being offset by Sony offering £75 off the disc model, so £405 direct from Sony while most retailers are undercutting to £400 and also making bundles with games they can not shift normally.

Damn it. I got a PS3 I would have traded for a bit of money off a PS5.
    Skk1's avatar
I bought a PS5 recently straight from a PS3 super slim. Tbh I'm not too impressed, doesn't seem like an as massive jump in graphics/performance as I'd expected even when playing on a 70 inch TV. Not many games that I like either. I might sell it soon.
  5. Daniel_Davis's avatar
I said this in another post, if you already have a PS4, you don't need a 5. Even if you're gettting it for £299.99, you literally don't need a 5. None of the exclusives are console exclusive (they can be played on a 4 too most of them), or even worth giving a PS4 up for. I've had the 5 since launch, and in heindsight, I wish I didn't even bother, it's done nothing much more than my 4 could still be doing for me. I still play alot of PS4 titles anyways, rarely ever use my PS5 games apart from a few. Don't fall for this deal lol, hold on to your 4, let the PS5's game library get a bit bigger, wait for some better deals aswell. If the slim is round the corner, that's probably going to be more efficient, maybe even a better looking design, better price point, probably will have a decent bundle deal with it too. Patience is key, the 5 ain't going nowhere either. (edited)
    smokedog's avatar
PS4 games don't look good on 65" 4K TVs. The PS5 has better frame rates and quicker load times. £300 to upgrade is fair price.

I've still got a brand new sealed PS4 slim from a few years back kept just in case

    where to sell it

can't sell / trade in new can you

Ebay maybe full of scammers ? (edited)
    Glasshalfsmashed58's avatar
Keep it for a few years. They usually go up in price when they become hard to find. New and sealed, that is.

For example, trying to find a new and sealed PS3 pad that isn't fake is a nightmare. People will pay a premium for immaculate hardware and peripherals. (edited)
  7. ShapzBrown's avatar
Anyone know if you can trade in your ps3?
  8. kyser143's avatar
In Game now and they won't accept controllers that can't be resold lol ...so any rough usage forget it they will add £40 to deal
    TheCostOfLies's avatar
How gross are your controllers that they can't be sold as used
  9. mossmanfly's avatar
The guy that leaked it, which was days, if not a week or more ago now, is pretty credible, apparently.

He also has said that the "Slim" is not necessarily a slim in the traditional sense, but just a different aspect and dimensions, so a new model which may end up being shorter and thicker maybe more akin to the Series X maybe. Or if it's got the detachable drive even slimer than that.

Think people forget that the PS4 to PS4 slim Sony shrunk the die size from 28nm (348mm) to 16nm (209mm). So a huge reduction in chip size, less power less heat, etc. PS5 started at 7nm (300mm). Now, latest PS5s are 6nm (270mm), and the new "Slim" rumoured to be 5nm, which is likely to be maybe 240/50 mm. So maybe 60mm reduction compared to the 140mm of the PS4 to PS4 Slim.

Not a slim just the same size as the ps5 digital.

Still better getting it for £350 at AO at the time, would feel I'm giving a PS4 away for £50 now
    McPhee87's avatar
But this deal a) still exists, and b) doesn't require a £40/year membership to access.

Went to trade an Xbox One S in today mint condition boxed etc, perfect working order..tried it before i left.. they said it didn't work on their little monitor they use so wouldn't take it.. got home plugged it in worked perfectly...
Anyone else had a similar experience with GAME? Proper mugged me off..
    mossmanfly's avatar
Whether this will help or not but check out the display settings in the options. As you may have, it is set to only output at a higher resolution, and if they use a small monitor it may not support that resolution. Not sure if you can set it to auto or not. Best bet set to 720p and then try again.

Never traded anything into Game but had experience with CEX when off loading old phones. S8+ guy said eye scanner didnt work, showed them it working and they had to book it in again. And then accepted it, turns out the guy doing the testing had some eye condition that mean iris scanner doesnt work, go figure. Anyway story time is over (edited)

anyone know if they are more flexible in store with selecting which free game you want? only two I wanted was Ghost Of Tsushima: Director's Cut PS5 and Demons Soul but sadly no such combo online
    DragonChris's avatar
They gave me no flexibility when I was in a few mins ago. I wanted to buy Demon Souls for extra £20, but that’s not possible with this bundle apparently 😩

I suspect this is a mileage may vary scenario.
  16. BigDumbFace's avatar
Tried in Witney store and they wouldn't exchange my Xbox one because it doesn't have a 2 pin power supply that plugs into the brick. Mine has 3 pins. (The kettle lead). He tried to educate me on how electricity works and it could damage the Xbox should there be a power surge.
I am certain that's what it came with in the first place. Got fed up and walked out.
    mossmanfly's avatar
What a numpty. Surely he couldn't be serious. The Xbox One power brick is a 3 pin kettle lead connection.

Should go back speak to a manager as the staff member has zero clue.

Selling off the current stock of PS5's, for the new PS5 Pro or a PS5 Slim makes sense I guess - but why reduce all of the Controllers? New DualSense to replace the existing ones?
    KingBoom2004's avatar
    I don't think that's likely it's probably just a sale

£110 for an OLED Switch.. you're having a laugh
    johnw84's avatar
Now surely that's £210 for a switch oled. Seems reasonable to me.
  20. BeardedCritic's avatar
Very unlikely, but does anyone know if you can double stack several consoles? (A switch and a ps4) and get the increased trade for both items?
    jco83's avatar
It states you cannot get the increased trade-in for more than 1 console

*Sorry it doesn't actually state that. I was reading that in one of the other offers' terms. Sorry (edited)
  21. Waffle's avatar
Is there a corresponding deal for Xbox?
    Moody_Cloud's avatar
No, because no one wants one
  22. Robbo83's avatar
Maybe it’s me but those trade in prices aren’t great.
When they did the trade in a OneX plus £50 for a series S that was a deal but £300 plus a trade in. Not for me
    Iesty83's avatar
Comparison with CEX on the PS4s for example suggests that its comparable trade in price for vouchers, but not for cash, and as you can only use vouchers in store and they dont sell NEW PS5s, cash trade in should be compared, in which case, its slightly better?:

Playstation 4 Slim Console, 500GB Black, BoxedGaming / Playstation4 Consoles
    WeBuy for cash £68.00
    WeBuy for voucher £96.00

Playstation 4 Slim Console, 1TB Black, BoxedGaming / Playstation4 Consoles
    WeBuy for cash £75.00
    WeBuy for voucher £106.00

Playstation 4 Pro Console, 1TB Black, BoxedGaming / Playstation4 Consoles
    WeBuy for cash £94.00
    WeBuy for voucher £133.00

    Playstation 4 Console, 1TB Black, BoxedGaming / Playstation4 Consoles
    WeBuy for cash £77.00
    WeBuy for voucher £110.00

Trade in price on the pro doesn't seem that bad, not far off what you'll get second hand. Our local game store closed so haven't been in one for ages, I take it the trade in values are fixed nationwide rather than stores setting their own?
    allanmark's avatar
I went to my local game store(now miles away inside a sports direct). Same prices as posted. 269.99 ps4 pro. Did need everything from new for a PlayStation so had to go buy a usb for the controller which was a little stupid.
  24. morty's avatar
Not sure why people are voting this hot it's not even a good deal.

All the listed consoles are worth £100+ they are not giving any special value.
    Leonh's avatar
An Xbox one and an original ps4 are not worth £100+ are they.. hilarious (edited)

Anyone going for trade-in of your console, make sure you have the most up-to-date software installed and reset your device. I did my trade-in yesterday and this is what the guy was telling us. Hope this helps someone.
    boonspoon's avatar
Can you remove all your info from a PS4 but still keep the most up to date software version on the console? I thought you would need to do a factory reset to remove everthing?
  26. Soiryk's avatar
Can you get a digital even cheaper through this deal? I've already got a PS5 but am thinking about a digital for the bedroom :/
    mossmanfly's avatar
No, as Game is only offering this as Sony has reduced the Disc PS5 by £75 for 2 weeks (Ends 10th August). So retailers are doing bundles, etc. So these trade in prices look good because of this as the console is being sold £405 direct from Sony and £400 from most retailers.

So Digital PS5 is still being priced at £390 as there is no official reduction from Sony.

Where did you read that ?
It says £149.99 on top of a digital ps5
  30. leighdegree's avatar
That's a no brainer if you've got an older console and of course the money right?

    PS5 Pro is near
    TheCostOfLies's avatar
There is zero reason for a pro consolethis generation. Games have barely started to be made for the current batch alone.

The only reason to have a pro would be to claim they have the "most powerful console", and that's just a terrible reason to make one. (edited)

£339 for Xbox one trade in. Is this worth it? Wondering how much Xbox One’s are going for?
    b3nwhy's avatar
In my opinion, this is a good deal. I would have done it, but I recently sold my Xbox One 1TB on ebay with a few games and made £50 (once you take off ebay's fees).

Now I'm considering getting rid of my original PS4 and guaranteeing that £80 payout. Rather than missing out, but ... I don't need a PS5 now and I should be saving money.

Why is this deal so hot? The prices aren't that great for what looks like a UFO. Best off waiting for the inevitable slim version because this thing is huge.
    tdk2bu's avatar
Lol The huge part of the PS5 is what's putting me off this deal, it would no way fit where I have the PS4 right now.
