I've long been tempted by O2s cheap prices - even though their internet speed in the parts of the country I tend to spend my time are absolutely rubbish.. "ah, its cheap, so i'll stick with it, ignore the speed".. Until recently when I finally switched to EE (I have couple of other SIMs there for other family members, so got a 30% discount).. Boy o boy, what a difference.. Its like night and day (and thats even being on the cheaper "Essential" tariff, which limited the speed to 100Mpbs).

If O2 are fast enough around your part of the world, great, they are cheap, go for it. But know there are different providers out there, and some times the grass is indeed greener.

how much did you end up paying for the ee sim and for what plan, may I ask? I’m thinking of switching.

I have VM broadband already. Can I have 3 sim only contracts under my name, and all 3 will get double speed bc of Volt?
    haa0518's avatar
Double data for all 3, and additional sim only contracts under your name will get discount from o2 aswell, 20%.

Does your home vm broadband speed also go to the next tier level if you get this sim? Thanks

It should, if you are entering into a new O2 line.
If you are upgrading an existing O2 line, there will be no change.

O2 the worst network in the country

It’s hit and miss on your area just like home broadband. O2 in my area are fine plus your find they are one of the few company’s that don’t add any extra crap on to your bill

Almost a year ago, I was tempted by a similar offer. £8 for 20gb (40gb with my VM). Price is amazing but the service is terrible. I live in and travel around London.

Frequently it says 5g - 3 bars but can't connect to a website or the speedtest app. If I put in airplane mode for a moment and take off then suddenly its a 3g signal or no service at all. Randomly it stopped working on the underground and hasn't been fixed for the last 3 or 4 months. I constantly contact customer support and they keep saying they will fix it but still haven't. The one saving grace is that each time I complain, they give me £10 credit so I also haven't paid for my contract for that whole time.

I was with EE beforehand and am definitely going back when my contract ends next month. The service in London is not even comparable. When O2 works, it works great. But it only seems to work 50% of the time. EE I never had a problem with. Downside is that EE is at minimum like 50% more expensive for something similar. I'd rather pay £3 or 4 more to have constant connection though.

Guys what if you upgrade a second line ? Are you still eligible for multisave ?
    richardmc85's avatar
Yes, but you need set the multisave up again (text loyalty to 21500 on the service line, after the upgrade completes). It doesn't carry across.

Hi text loyalty about 5 days ago but haven't been notified I have the multisave discount. How long does it take to apply?

Can anyone point me to any advice on how to achieve this...

Both my parents are on Giffgaff so O2 signal is established as adequate.

I'd like to move my dad to an O2 £7 for 15GB deal and port his number over. I'd then like to add my mum to his contract at the family discount and port her number over...

How does one make that all happen, please?

Can I take this deal as an "upgrade" on a current 02 contract that runs out next month or so or do I have to let it run out and take this deal separately?

    Any tips, please?

Dad migrated from GG to O2 on contract last week, his number ported in a day. He added a second line for Multisave Discount for my mum and ported her number. Nearly a week later no porting has occurred.

Calling O2 gets me waiting times of over an hour.

Attempting online support chat just tells me from 8am to 10pm that support is very busy and no agents can be found.

    There's no email address.

WTH am I supposed to do? A week of useless contract that can't be used due to waiting for a port that a small technically able child could process in five minutes.

Dad's signal is identical to GG which is better data in many places in Yorkshire than my 5G EE gives...

But the lack of support for something as simple as a number porting is just nonsense.

I can't even leave to go back to GG as they're signed into contracts and there's no one available to take a faffing complaint...

For the first time ever, O2 aren't letting my upgrade my existing contract to a new one. It's asking me to pay off my remainder until January, when I took out my last 12 month contract to get D+ 3mos. Anyone else faced this and know of a workaround?

EDIT: Got it to work. It's very cheeky of them, but you just have to click past the page where it says you have to pay it off, and they said "We've reduced your fee to £0.00" - how gracious!
