When it comes to learning riding a bike, best advice I can give to toddler parents is to get your kid a balance bike like this. Both my kids learned riding on balance bikes and in the first time they jumped on a pedal bike, they were riding after the first push. Never use stabilisers. Scwinn makes decent quality bikes, at this price, I'd go for this.

Having recently gone through teaching my kids how to ride bikes, I highly recommend getting a balance bike that has a brake (usually only a rear one) if you can

Or this at around 2/3 the weight (very important for a beginer) for the same price and from a decent brand (unlike Schwinn):

Dang just got the strider pro a few months ago for £180 but you’re bike seems a lot better value and same weight o well hopefully resale value will get some of my money back. you should post this bike

I would recommend getting a Strider 14x balance bike that comes with pedal and chains for the little ones. It works a treat for transitioning from trundling along to full on cycling. Once little ones know how to coast and position on the handlebars and bear properly to go round a bend, they're ready to start cycling. Best investment I made for teaching mine.

Your comment made me check out the Strider 14x and it almost gave me a heart attack. £230 for a toddler's bike???!!!

Or - for free - just take the pedals off a regular child’s bike and then refit them once ready? Agree that either way this approach is much better than using stabilisers to learn.

Most important thing with a balance bike is their weight. High weight means your kidding is unlikely to enjoy themselves.

    Get something lighter
