These laptops are horrible. Got a few at my workplace back in 2020 at a discount and 15/30 had issues out of the box. Camera not working, heat/noise issues (literally will sound like a jet), trackpad failing, hinge cover detaching, display frame detaching. Etc

Dell's quality control is shocking for the past few years even with the 7440 we buy now. It's a shame simce they used to be one of the best.

Were those new/discounted? As we’ve had at least 20 at work and had zero issues beyond normal battery wear and tear and one where the rubber strip on the lid pulled away, also some rubber strip feet perishing but that’s about it.

Expensive for an Intel 8th generation. I'm getting offers for 10th generation similar spec for around £200

Same - not a lot of difference between 8th and 10th Gen but 10th is still faster and often newer chassis. I think people see i7 and assume it’s good. The system itself is decent, but I wouldn’t pay this much for one even from a seller I trust.

Nice laptop and chassis but not worth £230 and don’t think much of this seller. Would not expect a great battery on this either if that’s important to you.

You can pick up this kind of system for around £150 these days.

Dell latitudes run like ass and have cooling issues with the fans on the bottom - got one with work. Awful awful laptops

The Latitude 7400 i7 16Gb is easily one of the best laptops I have ever owned and still use regularly. Build quality w/silver metal body and performance is perfect for a premium business use. Don;t just say an 8xxx processor inside a machine can be got for £150, this isnt an Inspiron or Vostro - what this processor is inside is way more important. For the price this is a first class deal. Either carbon or silver colour is fine for this system and they are good machines - the carbon is tougher wearing externally but the soft touch interior can peel and go sticky, none of those issues with the silver metal alloy though the metal is easily scratched. When I said, you can get this for £150, I meant this exact Latitude 7400 model not some random Inspiron or Vostro.

I actually picked up a silver 7400 from Cash Generator for £80 last week and it’s virtually perfect, battery still on Excellent health, 16GB RAM and no cosmetic damage, just one of the rubber strip feet has come off which is a common thing. It’s an i5 but see above, basically tied with the i7 for Passmark. You can pay more for them but no point - this and the HP EliteBook 840 G5/6 (also full metal alloy chassis) are probably the best 8th Gen laptops you can purchase used today.

You can find waaaaaay better price (£160 max) for such specs laptop every now and then. This is not a deal.
    plewis00's avatar
Yes - didn't you post a 10th gen Dell Vostro for around £160 quite recently?
