Any Freeview/Freesat boxes that are easy to use as Sky for my mum?

Can't afford Sky anymore but mum really misses the ease of use of the Sky box. The TV does offer recording via USB but the interface is slow, clunky and not as easy to use for someone of my mum's technical abilities (i.e none).

She struggles to find things to watch with everything being on different streaming platforms and hates not being able to skip ads like you can with a recording box.

Would appreciate some suggestions. Main requirements are a fast and easy to use EPG with recording.
