I think people often get side-tracked by lumens figures, resolution and such and forget that this is a sub £40 projector with an Android device in it. I've got it, and I buy tons of cheapo Chinese projectors to see what the current state of the art is in that area, and I can say that for £38, you most likely won't be upset by your investment unless you're used to a brand-name 1080p+ projector.

If you just want it to do some movie-watching in bed and don't even have a screen, then this is fine. Here's my thoughts:

    Positives:
    1. Cheap
    2. Good form-factor. Takes up virtually no space.
    3. Automatic keystone correction that actually works really well. Usually the bane of low-end projectors.
    4. Has built-in Android O/S that's performant enough for general use and some light gaming.
    5. HDMI input.
    6. Low fan volume - again usually a problem on cheap projectors.
    7. Good sound quality and volume. Listenable for movies. Except Tenet and Oppenheimer obvs.
    8. Brightness is absolutely fine - you won't be watching it with the curtains open in summer, but you wouldn't do that for most projectors anyway. 100% fine for daily watching for 6-months of the UK year and perfect for a bedroom projector.

    Negatives:
    1. Not 1080p, which is important if you want to view text, so okay for video games where there is little text.
    2. Optics are not the best, so there's a bit of blurring around the extremities of the image.
    3. Voice sometimes gets out of sync on youtube, but seems fine for all the movies I've watched.
    4. Some codecs are not supported, but I can't remember which. Most movies/shows I've watched have been h.264, I think, and they've been fine.

Here's a quick grab of the Barbie trailer on youtube that I took right now, against a light-green wall with the curtains open at 3:45pm today (so reasonably dark but not night-time). I also projected my big nose on the right hand side as a bonus. The image was 170cm (about 5ft 8inches) across the diagonal - so it's not dull by any stretch.

Thank Dog you told us it was your nose!!!! I saw it as (someone/you) holding their beer-belly whilst… erm… enjoying Margot Robbie!!!! (Or Ken, of course!!!)

its 200 lumens, you would get better brightness with a candle.
    Curfish's avatar
    A candle is 12.5 lumens

I just bought one of these via a Facebook ad under the brand name NanoCast and it cost me over £100. Looked great from the ad and to be fair it's not a bad device but I obviously now realise I've vastly overpaid for it and it's a completely generic device being sold by numerous brands.

I've tried commenting on the Facebook ad but they just delete my comments so many others going to be suckered in to buying this at an inflated price.

At £38.51 I'd say this is an excellent buy just don't get ripped off like me.

Take solace in the fact that maybe 2 years ago a device of this ilk was routinely going for well over £100. It's still not bad. For £100 nowadays you might get a 1080p version of this that might be a little bit better, but it won't be significantly so. The next band of improved quality devices will be around £150-175. Is this good for watching movies?

Watch this and see what you think

Ok for the kids room, but would definitely pay more if you want a cinema like experience , would go for a native 1080p with at least 600 plus ansi, obviously will cost a lot more than this unit (edited)

Managed to pick up a Wanbo T2 Max from a deal on here, if willing to spend a bit more, it may be worth looking into for anyone looking to purchase
  6. B1naryC0de's avatar
Having never used one of these, can you just plug it into a tv?
    Blurigard's avatar
If your TV has HDMI out then maybe.

    Mine arrived today. Very impressed.

    Elobrate please

200 ANSI seems *quite* low... Anyone got a frame of reference as to how this will perform outside; how big can you get and still be able to reasonably see it in 'relative' darkness?
I kind of fancy one of these for haloween/christmas decorations etc...
    teh.arn's avatar
You’d be better hanging the decorations off a tree, this is tiny.

By the way this deal seems to be on again. I can put the product in to my basket with UK plug selected and no doesn't deliver to your address warning.
    dave_yes's avatar
can you make it to checkout? On the page itself it says this in the "ship to" box on the right:

This product can't be shipped to your address.
    Select another product or address.

And if I go to my basket, it says this:

If anyone is able to get it at £38, £44 or whatever then great! And I am still happy I've got it for £49. Thanks OP for alerting me to these bargains!

Link didn’t come up at that price for me but I browsed around a bit and suddenly had a “welcome offer”

showing as not shipping to the UK. Any idea why? Presumably brexit/customs issues for items sub-£135?

It’s still shipping to UK but you have to choose EU plug

    Will this work with iPhone?
    Blurigard's avatar
Not with aircast unless you use a compatible app. At the last time I checked I think they were not free, but I've not checked in a while.
  15. WackoJackoUK's avatar
Daft question but thinking of this for my daughter and I believe it has Android OS so could put an IPTV app on it and stream ok?
    Blurigard's avatar
    That should work fine.
  16. sirhobo's avatar
I have one coming with a EU plug. What type of power supply does this take? Wondering if one I could use one from one of my existing devices
    p-e-t-e's avatar
Yes a standard figure of 8 type socket in the projector
  17. Aquai's avatar
Anyone tried running Stremio on this?

Or GeforceNow / XBox - might be a nice portable cloud gaming device?
  18. Titchimp's avatar
Mine arrived today and very happy with it for the price, took about 2 mins and I had YouTube on and the kids watching rubbish.

Has anyone managed to get airplay working?
    MDL199's avatar
Don't have an iPhone so can't say. I tried a Chromecast and a FireStick and both work brilliantly. Makes using apps a much better experience and you don't need to plug them in to the mains as the usb socket is enough to power them
  19. bbgun's avatar
I ordered one for £38 and tried ordering a second one and now have to pay £7 tax. Even on a new account anyone else seeing this?
    MDL199's avatar
Just checked and no that's not happening to me. Try a different browser?

    Is 200 Ansi actually bad?
    MDL199's avatar
I would find it too bright of a nighttime if it was any brighter personally
  21. ScrambledEggs44's avatar
I really don't see the point of this. It is utter rubbish. Why do I even open this app.
    Had to buy this
    AJ321's avatar
    why is it rubbish
  22. gooner786's avatar
I bought this and i think it's really good for the price. I don't think it's UHD though because my firestick is defaulting to 1080p but I'm more than happy with that anyway.

The only issue I'm having is that when my firestick power source is plugged in to the projector usb it keeps restarting. I don't think the projector has enough juice to keep it running. If anyone has a fix for this then please get in touch. It's only a small issue though, the firestick works with its own power source.
    muddyfunkster's avatar
I had a similar issue with the Chromecast. I plugged the Chromecast into a battery pack and then plugged the battery pack into the projector for some pass through charging. Obviously the battery will run down over time, but it was more than enough for watching a few movies.
  23. dave_yes's avatar
I can't get it to work with Prime Video. Prime video opens OK and all the content is there, but nothing actually plays. Any ideas?
    MDL199's avatar
Prime works fine on mine. But plug a Chromecast or FireStick in to the HDMI. The USB port powers my Chromecast with no problems. You could also use Miracast to Mirror Prime on your phone/tablet

Does Prime video app need to be updated is the other possible issue (edited)
