The grains are also shorter and thicker than basmati rice.

Place in a saucepan of boiling water.

2) Reduce to a simmer. Cook until rice is tender.

3) Once cooked, remove from the heat, drain and leave to stand for 3 minutes.

4) Serve hot and do not reheat. Cooking appliances may vary. These instructions are given as a guide.

Storage Instructions: ‎Store in a cool, dry place. Once opened, keep tightly closed.

Features:

  • Vegetarian, Plant-Based
  • Soft, Sticky texture
  • Jasmine Fragrant
  • long grain variety of rice

I grow up from a place where we eat rice every day. I can confirm this is good rice with very reasonable pricing at this price point.

52089862-YScEd.jpgYou might get lucky and find it reduced to 10p like I did on Wednesday

Makes sense one bag for each hand ! Good steal right there.

If you like rice but tend to use long grain, easy cook etc well give this a try. So much tastier. Only downside is that weve missed out a number of times with these offers having observed individuals loading all the rice on the shelf into their trolley. Cheaper than cash and carry.

I've been told that rice of old had the husk, was brown, and packed with more nutrients. This white stuff is part of the reason we're overweight.

Wholegrain rice is brown, and much healthier.

Good stuff the only one rice id go for as hker

As if being a hker provides legitimacy. This rice tastes terrible compared to real Thai Jasmine rice

They sell the same stuff in Lidl for a similar price I believe.

    This is NOT Thai rice!

It's just clever brand name - Mai Thai.

Proper Thai Jasmine rice cost around £9

I just checked and the packaging just states "Product of Asia".

It's decent rice for a good price, but I think Tilda Thai jasmine Rice is much better and certainly cooks better ... downside it's pricier :/
    Heat added tho

Thai or Asian origin we get through around 5kg a fortnight. We used to buy Green Dragon but now buy whatevers on offer. Mai Thai is absolutely fine. As expected the shelf was bare today as its cheaper for small restaurants to nip along to Sainsburys and scoff the lot.

A FORTNIGHT?! What? How are you eating 350grams of dried rice which is about 1kg of cooked rice A DAY??
  15. alan.ryan's avatar
very good rice must pick up a few bags at this price
    Hermitmaster5000's avatar
But then you get unlucky with rice weevels and the lot is ruined

I usually get Royal Umbrella. How does this compare to that?

This is a so-so brand. Tesco Hom Mali AAA 5kg is miles better than this. It is less risky to overcook because the grain is thicker. With a thinner grain or can also have the propensity to go mushy. (edited)

Quite thin grain. I'd go for Tesco Hom Mali AAA 5kg:
