Had these guys knock on my door last week and offered 6 months free then £25pm for this same deal.

I had mine for 5 months and no issues at all... Great ISP

Was great for 2 years then so many issues. Speeds were a quarter of what they should be, customer service is shockingly bad. Told us it was our issue when others in the street had the same issues. We tried our own router which was marginally better but still rubbish speeds. They wanted their router back in so we did and then they factory reset it using the admin details they set up with no prior warning at all, then it wouldn’t work at all so we had to use our own router again. Just a really shockingly bad company with terrible customer service. Great value when it works but if and when something goes wrong they will not be helpful. (edited)

My experience with Hey Broadband was terrible. Constant drop outs, customer services was extremely poor. Moved to a new supplier and not had a noticeable blip in service ever since.

I recently renewed my package, £35 PM, no no loyalty for existing customers that’s the downside , speed wise no issues , stable connection  most of the time, occasionally drops down for couple of mins and it’s back.

Horrible company. I had 400mb deal but there were lot of downtimes and almost never got the promised speed. Avoid

Did you check the speed with an ethernet cable directly connected to the router? Most ISP routers are dogs for WiFi strength and penetration.

Been with them for 2 and a half years now. Customer service is hit and miss but they do try to help, just lack the resources/manpower as is often the case with smaller companies. Still, service is great and apart from a 4 day outage in my 3rd month, it's been excellent. I was an early adopter when they were supplying a bare bones TP Link AC/WiFi 5 router that was not fit for purpose so I bought my own Asus WiFi 6 router and it's been great everywhere since.

I would strongly advise to ensure you request a WiFi 6 router, although that might be standard now and also make sure to get them to put it in a central part of the home. Downstairs will be fine as the vertical signal is excellent. I get 600mbps on WiFi in the loft on the 2nd floor with the router on the ground floor. Horizontal signal is not as good, hence why the router needs to be placed centrally to give you the best all round coverage and the possibility of avoiding extenders that work but degrade the signal quite significantly.

The final thing to bear in mind is that unlike the big ISPs, HB do not offer any content filtering so that's something you'll have to source separately, otherwise your kids will have full unfiltered access to the internet which you obviously don't want. They advertise parental controls but when you question them about controlling access to porn sites, their response is laughable. They'll tell you that any website you want to block, just enter the web address manually and you can block it........ so if there's say about 20,000 dodgy websites that you want to block, you'll have to enter every single one of them manually into the browser control panel lol. My solution was to get my own Asus WiFi 6 router that has built in content filtering so by pressing a few buttons, can block access to all 18+ websites.

Overall a great service, just make sure to take the above advice......
    it's from experience. (edited)

These deals are never available in my area

It's London and increasingly surrounding areas I believe. Gigabit stuff is beginning to turn up in Berkshire this year. Lots of different companies selling the same connection, like Openreach is resold.

But it's all clearly expanding at breakneck speed and if everything goes well then it's great and a bargain compared with existing products, if it doesn't then it sucks to be you because they're really too busy for that kind of helping nonsense. You'd probably do better with one of the companies not selling at very low pricing.

Without the cashback this is a pretty poor deal by their standards. You can see the previous deals (and sometimes future deals) on their website under the terms and conditions section.

Also consider their "standard" out of contract price is awful. You can probably renegotiate, but still.

Got connected with them in London 5 weeks ago, my deal was 6 months free, then 25/mth with no price increases. On installation day, worked fine for 6 hrs, then line went completely dead, emailed and called them numerous times, never got a response until 3 days later and about 4 or 5 calls in, then they arranged for someone to come out, and after 6 days withoutv internet was back up and running, the installer had cut the fiber line coming into the house during the install it turned out. It's working fine since, there is the odd 5 to 10 mins dropout every now and again, but fine apart from that. But agree, their customer service is crap if you need to contact them, they won't get back to you, and you'll have too do a lot of chasing. Speed is excellent, olways 900mb when connected directly to the router via ethernet, and around 600mb on WiFi connection when nearby, so can't fault the speed.

I must be living in one of the last places that don't have fibre yet! I'm paying more for 60mb crappy speeds... this is insane. Come BT pull your finger out and lay that fibre!!!!

How's 5G in your area? For a good while my 5G mobile Internet was far faster than my home Internet.

Just arrived in my area, had somebody knock at my door and offer 8 months free then £25 a month as currently in contract with Virgin until September. Was tempted but only paying £7 a month with Virgin for 1gig so absolutely no point at the moment. Will work out what's best bang for buck in September as competition from Toob in my area as well now, gives them time to bed in and see what's the best bet at renewal time.

You need to post how on earth you're getting 1GB Virgin for £7pm. That'll get some heat for sure!

Been with them two months so far, everything has been great. Gone down twice around 7pm for 5-10 minutes and that’s it.

Wireless speed usually between 800-1.1gb. Upload 7-850..

Very happy, although this deal is just ok. They had 6 months free, then £25 for the next 18 months on TCB for a long time. Still worth it.

Been with them two years just came off - I had 5 months free then £25. Speeds are no where near 1GB and customer service is rubbish

Tried to complain about speed but they where making me jump through so many hoops and now want me to return router and pay for the privilege
    Franky_1971's avatar
The 1gb is for a wired connection. WiFi will typically be anywhere from 100-600mb....... this is normal and the same with all gigabyte services. (edited)

It's CGNAT so additional £5 per month for static ip.
    TeamMCS's avatar
You'd have thought with IPV6 this was a thing of the past. Who on earth uses CGNat?! "What year is it?!"

I used Starlink for a year or so and it also used CGNAT, I ended up renting a dedicated server with a reverse proxy so I could still route traffic back home.
  17. Ed_Kavanagh's avatar
The only issue is getting Gbps around your home.
    Franky_1971's avatar
You won't unless it's a wired connection. However, they should give you a WiFi 6 router that you need to insist be positioned in a central area of the home. Speeds will be anywhere from 100mbps to 600mbps on WiFi, depending on whether the receiving device is WiFi 6 compatible or not and obviously the distance from the router.

Hey!BB (F&W networks) are the only FTTP provider in my area.
I got the black friday deal of 9 months for £1/months then £29/month (24 month contract) for 1gbit symmetric.
So far service has been good.
I am aware of a single 2 min outage since early December install.
There have also been some temporary routing issues such as inability to access chatgpt (told not in supported country) and throttled/low speed downloads from github.
AFAIK its from me being moved (on my request) to a dynamic public IP as opposed to the GCNAT that is default. These issues are now resolved.
I got a BYOD install and Im using my own router (Unifi UDM), and I'm getting ~900mbit.
I wonder if the bad experience other have is based on use of the ISP provided router?
    t3r4's avatar
Very interested in how you got off CGNAT - I'm getting it installed next week, can I just insist to the installer to move off this and get them to deal with the technical side? I asked the sales people and they didn't know what I was talking about, I don't want to pay for Static IP but ideally would like to avoid CGNAT. (edited)

    For those interested:
Myself having just signed up to Hey Broadband, I can confirm that the TopCashback entries showing in my TCB account are: 'Purchase value £1', yielding 'Cashback 9p'.

I assume that TopCashback only applies on a vendor's first purchase value, and does not operate on a rolling monthly basis (eg in the case of monthly telecoms bills).
