why do they not offer unlimited data?
    KodaBear's avatar
    It’s simply a commercial decision.

If you want unlimited data on the EE network you can go to 1P Mobile’s parent company UW Mobile. They have unlimited data. Otherwise you can go with CMLink who currently have a promotion with the first 3 months for £24 unlimited, then £30 after that. 30 day rolling agreement.

word of warning. if you enable 2FA (to prevent sim swaps), you risk losing access to your account because the emails sometimes don't come through. support are no help.

this stopped me being able to topup my account.

I had to SMS PAC out to keep my number. that was a relief.

    not recommended.

I've enabled 2FA via my email recently and you're correct about the occasional email not coming through. Luckily I only usually use it for general information but it can be frustrating when no email arrives. Then when it does about half a dozen arrive as I've pressed re-send.

With a brand name like 1p, did they ever sell £0.01 sim card deals in the past?
    amz321conr's avatar
It's 1p per minute, 1 per text, 1p per MB.

I have this package and it's been excellent. Thoroughly recommend. However it's been this price for at least 5 months so not really a deal as such.

I have a £12 balance. Can you still get them to take £10 top up off the credit balance ?
    KodaBear's avatar
You can always buy a month's bundle using your credit yes.

Note if you have auto top up enabled it may detect the low balance remaining after buying this bundle and buy another topup. So if you don't want this to happen be sure to disable it or delete your payment card from the account first.

Do you get access to London underground WiFi like EE?
    KodaBear's avatar
As with the others, no. Not officially. But depending upon your device you may be able to unofficially make it with with SIM Authentication.

If you want official support for this you'll have to stick to the big main brands and pay the price premium for it, or wait for the continued rollout of 4G LTE underground and use your own data down there instead.

1p also uses the full EE spectrum of signals compared to other MVNOs on EE that don’t so you get the best signal possible (that EE provides)
    KodaBear's avatar
Correct. EE Direct, 1P Mobile, CMLink and Popit all have full access to the EE signal bands and frequencies. All the others at present have a cut-back version of this.

Been with them for years ,absolutely excellent, why pay more. Scorching.

What does this show next to the signal bars? 1p? If someone can send a screenshot that would be great
    KodaBear's avatar
Depends on the phone. Most will show '1P' but others may show 'EE' 'Club' 'Plus' 'TMO UK' or 'Orange' instead.

Despite the name, it will use EE's own IMS and APN. So you'll get full network access. If someone calls voicemail it will even go to EE's voicemail system for example.

I’m tempted to move from ID mobile. Who would be the best to go to?
    KodaBear's avatar
This uses the full EE signal and network features, and EE is the UK's best network on average for the past decade so this is probably a good option as long as the price is right for the amount of data you want each month. They definitely aren't the cheapest for everyone.

Good if Vodafone works for you.
This is for those where Vodafone is patchy and EE works. (edited)

Can you use a sim in a 4G dongle? Looking to get a PAYG for the kids when we are at our caravan?
    KodaBear's avatar
You can indeed. But unless you need EE signal, this probably isn't the best value in terms of how much data you get for the price point.
