Hey all,

After being on the lookout for a new laptop on this site I've seen some options that were around the £350-400 but had only 8gb Ram and CPUs that were Ryzen 5 or i3.

When I found this deal it seemed to tick all the boxes and came with the benefit of an i7 13th Gen processor.

The smaller 14" IPS screen is fine for my needs as I have larger monitors to plug into if required. This size also makes it easily portable.

Head over to the ASUS site for detailed specs: asus.com/uk/…04/

Although this is being advertised as a 'Today Only' deal on Scan, I bought it yesterday and see that it's still on offer today.

    Display info (250nits)

    14.0-inch, FHD (1920 x 1080) 16:9 aspect ratio, IPS-level Panel, LED Backlit, 60Hz refresh rate, 250nits, 45% NTSC color gamut, Anti-glare display, TÜV Rheinland-certified, Non-touch screen, - (Screen-to-body ratio)82%.

Looks like a good spec for the price though, I'm tempted by it

I know it is not for most of the people but I replaced several laptop display panels with higher quality ones (that were never meant to used in those laptops but were fully compatible) and it cost me between £35-£45 per laptop.

Very good price for this - screen is fine but will be underwhelming for some, ASUS normally uses 300 nit panels but at least this is IPS. CPU, RAM and storage all ample and modern in a sub-£400 system, I would recommend for anyone searching in this price class.

    Hello OP,

I checked the specs and spoke to a rep at Scan, it has a back lit keyboard, so please add that to the description, have some heat

Nice spot and heat given! But the Raptor Lake-U CPUs are 2 Performance cores and 8 Efficiency cores maximum and it is bit difficult to compare it with other CPUs. (edited)

Never heard of Scan - from a quick Google seems a perfectly legitimate retailer right?

Yeah old company with a site in Bolton by the Reebok stadium , probably been renamed now as I know the stadium from when I used to go the scan shop over 20 years ago

    Good specs and price
Is this better than Dell latitude 5430 1335u 16Gb and 512GB?
    plewis00's avatar
It's probably a Latitude 5440 if 13th Gen (5430 is usually 12th Gen but no other major differences), it will be a similar machine, the Dell is more durable, built for business and has a good keyboard. I wouldn't consider it an upgrade if that was your consideration. (edited)

    Apparently a 3-cell Li-ion, 42 Wh battery.

Can't find anything on battery life ... cpu becnhmark shows CPU as low-to-mid in performance.

Didn't need it but got it anyway. Was tempted by a new MacBook air to replace my 2017 one but think I will go for this .
Ideally I wanted touch screen 2 in 1 but can't have it all .
