About this deal

I got posted this deal through my postbox and realised the previous HDUK deal had expired a few days ago.

The main reason I'm posting this because I, like many of you, am switching from Virgin Media due to their horrendous service and it looks like this is the cheapest (and one of the fastest) on the market.

**Edit: This looks to be a postcode specific deal. However, may be worth calling up to find out if they can do anything to match the deal.

Code: 1yeardeal

I applied years ago and then they always ended up saying my building was not available yet. In the end I have been using for the last 4 years a 5g router with 3 and now Vodafone and can't really be bothered to install the fiber. Unless one needs a super fast connection,5g is perfectly adequate with speed around 80-150 mb and I pay 14 per month

Which areas does hyperoptic actually operate in ? Registered with them years ago but still no rollout. Is it mainly London areas still ?
    TheVoice's avatar
They're all over the place (I'm with them in Glasgow), but their main focus tends to be flats/apartments and new builds rather than wider residential areas like other providers.

I have just switched to you fibre( lucky to have them just in my area) 2 year fixed deal, no price increases, and 1gb upload and download for £29.99 and even paid my early exit fee to virgin (edited)

I also did that deal, you could probably get it cheaper, say you signed up to be notified when they were in your area and you should be able to get 10% off that price

Looks like some people are experiencing something similar. I’ve updated the description to reflect this.

No sign of fibre where I live. We have a digital line but the max speed from any provider is around 50mbps

Thanks so much for this! This just saved me a good amount on broadband I was about to buy anyway

Hyperoptic has already increased their 150Mb to over 40 quid per month for existing customers and will have another price increase on the 16th of March.

That’ll be a 100% increase to dogeybabe’s package above . I predict they’ll soon be known as RipoffOptics.
    TheVoice's avatar
Hyperoptic don't increase prices while you're in contract.

Doesnt work for my area - this is becoming a theme with Hyperoptic... super local codes, only useable by a minority

Definitely frustrating. I had the same experience with Open reach & Community Fibre so hopefully it expands a little in the near future so there’s not so much hunting happening

Not available in my area sadly. Seems that apart from the usual BT, Sky/Now and Virgin my only other option is Youfibre, who do actually seem pretty competitive. Wonder if they could be persuaded to match this to get me as a new customer?

Had their rep at our door a few times trying to get us to switch over from Virgin. Even offered to buy out our contract, just always wary of signing up to anything from cold callers in case they take payment and then disappear... (edited)

I always call up the company directly from the number listed on the website and pretend i dont know anything about them. Once they show that they’re not hungry for you to buy, I mention the deal that “x” person mentioned at my front door.

So yeah, definitely be wary but best to go direct

Can you post a pic (or send to me) of the leaflet?
    ST3123's avatar
Please could you do the same for me too (hoping for possible Youfibre price match) may help if I can show them something other than HUKD post.

    Many thanks

    Great deal...
Except not even an inkling of BT Openreach putting full fibre on my estate any time soon, so 36Mb max it is for me!

Pain! Sorry to hear it. Looks like they’re expanding fairly fast so hopefully it isnt too far from being a reality

Is it possible for existing customers to take advantage of these deals before the contract expires? I'm paying £25 for 1Gbps and my contract ends in ~6 months, but would happily sign up to a 24-month commitment at the same price point.

Worth giving them a call, the customer service team is fairly responsive and (from what I’ve experienced) positive!

Sorry, the promo code you’ve entered does not apply to this package.

:/ shame as my existing deal is about to expire.

Any tips for negotiating a new deal with Hyperoptic when the initial term expires? I’m out of contract with them but they won’t match any of their new customer deals.
    Waka69's avatar
Maybe cancel and use someone else name in the address as the new customer?
  23. dodgeybabes's avatar
Signed up to these last month £26pcm rolling monthly contract for 150mb download and upload speed. Which is decent however I have noticed they throttle the speeds at peak times 6-9pm occasionally.

Other than that impressed so far
    chalfont's avatar
Not just throttling but their service is highly unreliable. Service goes down several times a week for 15-20mins. Impossible to WFH when on hyperoptic. Wouldn't recommend.
  24. chalfont's avatar
I was with hyperoptic for many years but left them as their service was very poor. Notice loss of connection several times (sometimes for hours) and when contacted them they say that they can't even compensate as the ofcom rule states that the service has to be down for 48 hours to recieve compensation. Hyperoptic is using this rule fully.

Also after the completion of initial contract term, they don't offer any discounts and are expensive compared to new customers.

    I don't recommend them.
    TheVoice's avatar
That's not entirely true, I was offered a discounted renewal last year a couple of months before my contract ended.

Virgin media has very bad customer service. They charged me for 200 mbs and provided me 100mbs last year. Rang virgin media told them to listen to the required calls. They refused to do so.asked them to cancel but they will charge me. Hopefully the contact is finished. Not going back.
Sad this hyperoptic isn't at my postcode. So can't get it
  26. AshFR's avatar
What's going on? Why are all these superfast fibre boaedband companies popping up all of a sudden?
    TheVoice's avatar
Hyperoptic have been around for ages. The others are filling the many, many gaps being left by the other big players like Virgin and Openreach.
  27. HusMississauga's avatar
Hyperoptic is/was a nightmare-Buyer beware. I bought the 1 gb package and my download speed was literally 1-10 MBs after 6 every day. Ended up just using my mobile hotspot most of the time. Eventually they waived my termination fee, so I could switch. No point in their offers if they can't actually offer 1% of their actual speed.
