Please be careful with any offer from Virgin, they offered me a deal for £18 a month for M125 on an 18 month contract. After 9 months my bill went up to £44.50 , I rang to ask why, they said the discount had only been applied for 9 months so the bill is now £44.50
I said that’s not what I agreed too , but they said to check my contract, and sure enough, they only applied the discount for 9 months.
Please check your contract carefully with any “deal” they offer.

Thanks for the warning, mine is ok so I guess it depends on the retentions agent you get

Looks like no price rises till April 2025 too!

*Monthly price shown will increase each April from April 2025 by the Retail Price Index rate of inflation announced in February each year plus 3.9%. See virginmedia.com/prices and o2.co.uk/prices for details.

Are you allowed to cancel without penalty at a price change if within contract?
    McAfeeman's avatar
    No
  4. R34L15T's avatar
Just called up to cancel as the renewal is coming up for £51 for my 125mbps broadband & phone (although no phone - was cheaper to get as package). Currently paying around £32. I’ve just renewed it for £27 per month for a 250mbps broadband!
    kneale81's avatar
I just got M250 for £19/month via outbound retentions.

If I apply for this and get the self install box, and then give my Wi-Fi supplier a month’s notice, do I only pay for virgin from the day I connect up to virgin or from the day I get the box? Thanks for any help
    KodaBear's avatar
You'll pay from the date that VM Make the service available to you on the pre-arranged go-live date.

If you plug anything in or not has no bearing on when your billing starts.

Book an engineer install. You can pick the date that they'll be coming to fit it, will fix any issues that may arise unexpectedly stopping you from being left without internet, and you're far more likely to get a better router out of the engineer compared to doing a quickstart self-install where you're guaranteed to get the awful Hub 3 with this package.

As i posted above i contacted VM just now.
Told them i had signed up 6 days ago at a higher price but they would not match this deal.

Told me to cancel within the 14 day cooling off period.

So getting cut off on the 19th but as we have cancelled within the 14 days we are blocked from signing up again for a month so now cannot take advantage of this deal !

Hopefully another decent deal like this will come along soon.

Make sure you screenshot proof of the £100 credit as it is not applied automatically and you have to chase them to do it, it isn’t mentioned on your contract either so screenshot the page on money saving expert

It is in the contract though...52372432-Gn6HB.jpg

Is there a deal for M500 plan with Phone line?
  9. AnthHether001's avatar
I've tried applying for the Virgin M125 offer, and have given my post code details - but I am then taken to a Virgin page that states:
    >>We’ll be in touch within ten working days to tell you what services are available there.<<

Can I therefore assume that my address is not served by Virgin?
    KodaBear's avatar
Currently no, but it sounds like their cables may be very close by and they want to do a survey of your street to see if it would be practical to bring it into your home.
  10. Ragdoll_Pigeon's avatar
They should stop calling it "x amount for 18 months" if they're gonna slap the price rise on top. They should just declare a fixed price for the full term of the contract and if that means saying its gonna be £25 a month, then it's perfectly clear
    Killer_Klient's avatar
Ofcom already stated in December that they are proposing to ban this practice.

Still waiting for them to do it already.

We can all thank BT for pioneering this "smart" idea. I've thanked them by never giving them by business or consideration.

Just signed up to this with the deal posted by mrswitch a few days ago, can i cancel under the 14 days rule and get this as its £61 cheaper overall ?
Do virgin charge for return of equipment or the 5 days i have used their Broadband ?

I am hoping they will just change the contract to this price but will not know until i phone later tonight !

Thanks for posting this deal OP !

I just got on the chat with them and switched my order to this, couldn’t do it over the phone as they need the link to the deal. Took about 20 mins but got it in the end
  12. Hotter's avatar
Great price I just paid £29 a month for this with £125 bill credit — I would cancel to go for this as they are due to install it soon, but as their delays in installing have had me rack up so many bill credits it’s getting close to being single digits per month (edited)

Also can't leave VM on price rise until the end of the contract.

I took this deal 18 months ago, it's the same price and I'm due for renewal. Not sure if I got it the same deal again but their service does cut out at times it's never constant.
  16. OldManJones's avatar
They really need to get their act together... I don't know why doesn't someone high up go you know what let's just give people a decent price no peeing people off with making them ring up constantly etc. I've been with them since NTL but I don't think I can take their call centre any more.

Me personally think they'll go bust once you get a bad rep you just get a slow bleed of customers as they're having now. They should reward loyalty as no one wants to mess up with internet routers etc once it's setup.

It's a strange time for these isps as really soon 5g will be giving pretty much every house atleast 200mbs so the end of the hard wire is nigh. Which is why they should be rewarding people for choosing them but they instead just take us for granted. (edited)

I'm not so sure, this new environment means nearly all this type of service provider including mobile networks are adding the annual 'inflation' increases. The days of when you agree to a contract and it's fixed for that time have gone. Standing standards and the government need to step in and stop this day light robbery.... Today it's written in advance they are going to up the charge midway through..... What can you do

    Happy with that

Can I get this deal along with a refer a friend code also?
  19. pc99's avatar
Do Virgin also do an anytime calls package? My mum in law might want this but wants anytime calls.
    KodaBear's avatar
They do indeed. But you probably need to call them once live to add it on. The migration to the digital landline service has complexities which means you can't change your calling plan online at the moment.

I cancelled my other half's contract 3 weeks ago and ordered a better deal online in my name at the same time. The best online chat offered us was £28pm including a SIM which I didn't need. I said we'd stay for £23pm with no SIM but they said they couldn't do it. Since cancelling, my other half has been pestered several times, with today's price down to £19pm - which we won't be accepting either; don't want the grief of cancelling the new contract which starts next week. Voted hot - my effective cost will be £21.77pm. Okay I got my deal switched to this one - it took chat over an hour. (edited)

I put in my notice last week, had a few emails with lower prices but I am just waiting for a good price now. Retentions were useless, couldnt offer me anything good. I have been offered 100mb for £20 a month was the last offer but going to wait it out

Getting cut off on the 22nd march phone & bb.
How do i keep that number?
    iby2012's avatar
Need to keep the number active. It gets cuts your number goes bye bye.

And the swap to another provider takes 2 weeks. So you need to keep your current contract going. Or at least the landline bit.

I think your number can be held for 30 days too. But not 100%. Got this issue myself. Contract ends in 2 weeks.

Anyway to connect 3 x extra boxes? Do they need to be hard wired?

I wish I could get this. Virgin media has been "coming soon" to my postcode since October last year. No sign of anything happening
    KodaBear's avatar
If you're coming soon you'll be getting Nexfibre FTTP rather than the traditional Virgin Media cable network. This offer won't be available to you.

This package includes a landline which you can't currently get on their Nexfibre network. You'll find the packages available are totally different when it is finally available to order.

I've been with VM for 4 years now. The service is ok but the "dance" that you have to do every 18 months to get a deal is a real pain. Had to contact them 4 times after signing up again to get them to honour the agreed deal - but finally it has been sorted.

I'm happy with what I am paying but I don't drive the hardest of bargains. Currently on 50mb speed for £20 ( just for context)
    TirNaNog's avatar
Same. Been with them for over 20 years and it's definitely getting more painful. Fed up of how they often take a different amount to what they say on the phone and the price goes up regardless. Also the speeds I'm getting aren't nearly what I pay for but, again, all the phone interactions are so dire I have to psych myself up to try and deal with it.

It's probably made worse because I have to keep an eye on my mum's too and phone them up for her. Same thing happens. Just need to keep a constant eye on your bank. The other week I was on the phone for two hours (got cut off once or twice) and they still charged her way more than he agreed on the phone. (edited)

Stuck with EE with about 9 months contract left 23mb 🫠🥹 sucks
  28. Listy2021's avatar
My VM has been disconnected today, been with them since they were NTL. Their CS these days appalling, got my bill wrong every month for the last 5 months meaning I had to contact them more than once a month most of the time to get it rectified. Both internal and outbound retentions were useless, despite pestering me sometimes more than once a day via phone calls

Went with Grain Connect £24.99 900Mb up and down with no price rises for 18 months, best Virgin could offer me was 350Mb for £34.99 (or their very last offer on Friday that was 125Mb for £19.99 to which I just put the phone down on them)
    rupeeman's avatar
I really can't believe some are so hung up in the past .. since NTL days come on now. It's time to give it a rest on that front it was more than 2 decades ago. I do agree though these latest prices are beyond anything £34 for something not even 500mb is a super joke for a country which wants to promote technology. Now that's BS speed we had in NTL days at the same prices. (edited)
  29. Natedawg1989's avatar
As good as the price is… don’t do it to yourselves. I signed up years ago with a £75 bill credit written into the contract… wasn’t applied and it was like getting blood from a stone to actually get it applied (multiple phone calls).

Service wise, very good and minimal outages. Get the speed you paid for too.

Just not worth the song and dance every time you need to recontract. Most recently, took an upgraded speed offer from an email they sent - wasn’t applied - had to phone - was sent a new contract for the higher price but old speed - 4 more phone calls - wouldn’t acknowledge cooling off period… finally sorted after like 3 days of calling but yeah, they just suck.

Why cant I get the deal on link. I enter postcode and give me 24 per month without credit
    KodaBear's avatar
You're probably in an area served by Nexfibre instead of the usual Virgin Media cable and different packages and pricing applies.
  32. moirrawson62's avatar
If anyone is considering joining Virgin Media, please look online and read their reviews first. You can join, but you can never leave. You will spend hours on hold if you call them and never get put through to the team who can let you leave. Virgin are now trying to introduce a substantial penalty if you leave even if you are out of contract. Don't do it without reading their reviews first. Trust me. Don't

Does anyone know if this deal has ended early? I'm going via the mse link which says it's available but then when I click it it says £54 pm for M125?? And no mention of the £100. Am I missing something?
    Kiran834's avatar
It says it near the bottom. I just click through the link and it shows up for me towards the bottom
  37. kneale81's avatar
Just renewed M250 for £19/month via outbound retentions. I called them the day after I gave notice via normal retentions on WhatsApp (who would only offer £25/month).
