This thing is a beauty! The specs got me here for this kind of money and the neck with those stainless steel frets, is a real rarity at this price point. The tuners are locking and the nut is a Graph Tech TUSQ XL.

The tremolo here may put this out for beginners though, as this type aren't really the easiest to deal with when it comes to string changes and general set up, but at the same time... not as hard to deal with in the beginning as a Floyd Rose style set up.

Saying that, it's also good to learn how to set up something like this, if you're confident enough to do so. For the money, it may be worth blocking the trem if it's putting you off so that there is no pull up on it.

For more seasoned players, you'll probably know your onions anyway. It looks like a very nice modding platform, given it's starting specs.

I own one of these, punches way above its weight class. Pickups are a bit muddy, I swapped them for Seymour Duncans.

Is there any import duty to be paid?
    easypeasy's avatar
No import duty,Thomann factor it into the selling price of the guitar now or it was like that when I bought one about a year ago.

Yeah agree mate ...that's a good spec for a 'budget' guitar . (edited)

    Stainless steel frets
    Roasted Maple neck
    Wilkinson 50IIK 2 point tremelo
    Graph Tech TUSQ XL nut

    For £255, mad

The pickups won't be great but with modern processing that doesn't matter if playing at home. Pickup emulation (Blue Cat Re-Guitar) does the job. Neural Amp Modeller does the rest.

Only thing I'd be doing with this guitar is taking it to a decent luthier pay £70 or so and get it fully setup, and strings replaced. Then you have a really well setup guitar that you don't need to do anything else with.

Have one the pickups out perform many, including my Jackson Seymour Duncan’s. They are incredible guitars.

I've got one of the guitars in this range. harleybenton.com/pro…bk/

It's absolutely gorgeous. The photo doesn't do it justice. The back and side of the body is brown and it makes a lovely two tone effect on the bevel under the high frets. Lovely.

BUT! When it arrived I sort of hated it. The neck was bowed, the frets felt like playing on train tracks. But I adjusted the truss rod (for the first time ever!) and filed the frets a little. But I wasn't feeling it for a few weeks.

After that though I picked it up again and now it's my favourite guitar. You kind of need to play it in I guess. It's great now. I like it a lot more than the actual Tele I owned in the 90s.

Wow, that’s basically a shopping list for the highest of specs.

The Harley Benton range question's why I need to buy any other brand tbh. I'm looking at the HB MAX Fusion. That is a thing of beauty!

factory setup and finish isnt always great. Hence the cheap price. A lot of HB guitars will need some form of setup when they arrive and most will require fret dressing to take off sharp edges.

Occasionally some new guitars with blemishes in the finish do slip past QC and end up in peoples hands when it should have really been sold as B-Stock and can be a bit of faff to send it back. (edited)

Lovely looking guitar, I only wish these pseudo tele’s had the authentic sound bridge pickup rather than two humbuckers.

Why would you even mod this apart from the pickups, it's finished already lol.

That said it *really* should have been gold hardware, I'd have bought it by now if so.

I like to mod, what can I say?

Pickups would probably be switched out and possibly a bridge upgrade down the line, if it were me buying. That said... I'd only do it if I wasn't overly keen on the bridge. I'd imagine it's pretty decent though, especially for the cash.

I'm always modding something, although I haven't dared attack the Jem Jr (That's nearly done) by adding a Sustainiac. (Waiting for a miss price on a guitar that comes with one... it may take a lifetime, haha)

Is this a good electric guitar for a beginner?

I've got a Harley Benton, the neck is fantastic. I imagine this will be decent too!

    Are they a shallow neck?

100% recommend HB, I have a special edition Tele and it’s fit and quality is amazing for the money a world away from where entry level used to be

Top of the league bang for buck I don’t feel the need to spend any more where usually it’s any excuse to get the best most expensive thing. but I’m just a hobbyist

Oof, this is tempting. I have one of the lower end HB Tele-a-likes, and it's a great guitar. I play it all the time. Stainless steel frets for £250? Crazy.

I’ve just received a B stock version of this in the turquoise type colour.

What a fantastic guitar for the money. This is sat next to my Gibson Les Paul Studio and I would definitely have no qualms about taking the HB out for a gig instead.
