Arete is the perfect solution to dealing with condensation, mould and damp problems either in the home, in a garage, in an unheated basement, on a boat or in a caravan. All Arete One dehumidifiers come with a medical grade H13 HEPA filter which is 75% larger than the filter on our popular Low Energy models. It can be used to clean the air during dehumidification and as a stand-alone air purifier throughout the spring and summer months.

sorted byEdit, do you need to change the filter or anything like that? (edited)
As for the filter on the back it gets clogged with dust, I just use an air duster to blow it out. Make sure you're outside of course lol.
the noise on the 25L in "sleep" mode (LEDs turn off) is a lot louder & the fan doesnt seem to slow down as far as I can tell as the noise stays the same - I can sleep through it as its just a background white noise but possibly some people may find it too loud
My 25L unit does have a HEPA filter though which increases the noise level - you can remove the filter to make it quieter (edited)
at lower temperatures the smaller ones go into defrost only mode more often so still use electric but are not dehumidifying
also the larger ones will reach the desired humidity quicker then turn off whereas the smaller ones may never reach the desired humidity & so stay on all the time (thats what I have found with my 12L &25L ones - 12L one struggles to get below 60% humidity so ends up being on all the time) (edited)
(Yes I tried setting a rh that would be hit inside the 20 mins thus only using electricity to dehumidify on the 'warm cycle ' as the unit will Turn off when the target rh is hit).
What you’ve explained is basically the dehumidifier doing its job of reducing humidity, going to sleep, then waking up when needed (maybe someone took a shower or is cooking, raising moisture levels).
This saves you money as it isn’t running for hours constantly, and drying the air too much. (edited)
New models with wifi connectivity are expected at month end.
Almost all usage of a dehumidifer is going to be turning it on at the power level you want and letting it turn off automatically. (edited)
Just for info if it helps. (edited)

I'm looking to switch off overnight and back on in the morning using a smart plug. If its running when switched off at the mains, will it resume at the same settings when power is reconnected, or would I need to reset the mode etc?

will this be the same?
I have the older platinum 12l version which is about 5 yrs old and still going ok, but very tempted to buy this model.
Decisions, decisions......
Super hot here!
Bought the 20L for downstairs and I have already a 20L upstairs.
Just this morning I had Curry's price match Appliances Direct at £235.97 and was given a price match code to use from 7:30am tomorrow.
Had I not seen this post, I would have purchased it tomorrow at a much higher price!
This Meaco is top notch and a great price. 12L has proved more than enough for me.
Was tempted to get the 20L model but it’s a bit bigger than what I can handle for the location I want to place it in. £135 for the 12L one is a great price if it holds up.
I was previously using a cheap £40 off Amazon that only does 450ml.
As temperatures rise, humidity does and I think a lot of people get the idea they need one of these. Dehumidifiers crank out a fair bit of heat which I found useful in the winter but in my experience, that extra thermal load precludes running them entirely once the weather warms even slightly.
That said, I live in a really energy efficient home which is an absolute oven in the summer.
I found out the hard way that you can't really use these in warm humid weather at all. And ours made the room oppressively warm even in Autumn last year. Once we were in the winter it just cut down how much we switched on the heating / took the chill off.
We have the 12L model so I imagine the bigger models run hotter. I hear desiccant models run even warmer! I will rejoice the day they design one that emits next to no exhaust heat. (edited)
It does add heat to the room, so I don't leave it running if someone is staying over in that room.
I hope you are well.
