Im curious, for people who were existing customers, who did end up moving to and was it a good move to cancel? I know its area dependant too, but im interested to hear if your experience with a different provider has been positive or negative. (edited)

They will probably match what’s out there or give you same price. I got a deal from 125 to 250 for £27pm.

What one can do to be considered as a new customer if currently an existing customer? Leave for another company? Sign up under my partner name?
    KodaBear's avatar
Have another adult living at your address sign up as a new customer.

In reality though, if you are any good at haggling, you can easily get better than a new customer deal by pushing outbound retentions to give you a better price.

We got this with TV and phone for £27 a month. The best offers come when you start the leaving process.

how long after putting in cancellation did they call you? just put in mine 2 days ago

Never nothing for existing customers, which is so weird. Instead to try to keep us with them, they raise up our bills and we have no benefits for loyaliti.

Thats why I switch back and forth when every contract ends

No price rises for new customers, but price rises for existing customers of 8.8% without the ability to get out of contract now with their built in T&Cs

I paid like £15 a month for 900 Mbps up and down :), thanks to my local small ISP.

    Sorry felt like gloating. (edited)

No price rises while in a contract, such generous Gods they are.
    unknownuser's avatar
Nope, no price rises till next April. You'll still be in contract for 4-5 months.

You should be able to get free mesh WiFi Pods with this to. I'm on the 125 pack and have 3 at no extra cost.
    KodaBear's avatar
You only get these if you're a Volt customer or you have Gig1/Gig2 packages.

    Otherwise it's £8 a month.

If you are neither of the above and aren't paying for it, you got super lucky with a discretionary credit to cover the cost. It's a thing that exists but very rare and not something anyone should count on being able to get for free.

Just ditched Virgin for Octopus Fibre (Was Shell) last month. 12 month contract was £359.88 plus a £100 Amazon voucher included, but it's 200Mbps instead of 250Mbps.
    KodaBear's avatar
If you think you're going to be joining Octopus you're going to be sorely disappointed.

Octopus have taken on Shell Energy customers who have gas and electricity supply from them. But they have no interest in the broadband.

For now, they continue to operate as Shell Energy Broadband. But the deal has already been signed for you to become a TalkTalk customer in the near future.

I phoned VM on Tuesday and they offered me a new contract.
The price is £2 more this month but it will be £3 less next month as no increase, wheres the old contract is going up by £5.
Not a big saving but they added Sky Sports HD and Cinema, so am paying less for more.

I got 1GB for £29 2 weeks after putting in my notice. Usually you get the best deals when you tell them you’re leaving but sometimes the cashback deals are really good. Just couldn’t find one that matched at the time I renewed

Prior to the recent installation of fibre in my area I had literally no choice but to stay with this sub standard inept company, there customer service is a disaster, firstly you spend 20 min getting through then security Only to have to repeatedly affirm whom you are , the you get a generic scripts, literally endorsed upon your head, like you are literally unable to retain five seconds of information from them. This continues throughout the call whilst they failed to listen to anything that you have to say this accumulates in frustration and anxiety. Due to the fact at this point, you’re probably 40 minutes into the call and have made no headway whatsoever, after years of being with virgin media, I jumped at the opportunity of bailing off and joining another company who we are incredibly efficient and the service so far has been exemplary. I simply left virgin media after they increased my package charge by over 50%, and after an exhausting seven or eight calls, I was told a credit would be placed on my account to cover the billing errors  and I agreed to stay as a customer at existing price . next month however my bill was over £85 despite assurances that credit and my complaint which I have lodged over the billing had been dealt with received an email informing me of this. I had no corporation with them to resolve the issue, despite a call to an operator who did not action any of his basically lies and deception in order to prevent me exiting the service, which is best described as inconsistent poor and Lagi not achieving speeds they indicate I simply made the decision I had had enough if you are not the most patient person in the world. Now I compare this to being a saint effectively as this would be the approach. You would need to resolve any issues you get with this company. I am no longer with them, however, they chase me for significant amounts of unexplained charges of an ongoing complaint which is backed up by the ombudsman so I have no worries in that department. My new service is exemplary. I wish to inform anybody considering virgin media to also consider their mental health status because their operators will test you they will put puts you in situations where you are left frustrated, anguished and general feeling of wasting your precious time. Please do not do it please for your own sanity. This company really needs to be taken to task and I can assure you if you join it for the communities, you will see even their own operators despair at their stories of similarity to mine above good luck if you do join this company .
i’m going to do a follow-up post, showing the condition of the service boxes up on my street, and the amount of water that my signal wire sat in a constantly had to remove it from the water laden sumps in order to get a signal as this was quicker and the only rectification the virgin media had for the problem. After many times of seeing their engineers specifically doing this task, I took it upon myself to do it myself, and sometimes it rectified they issue. Sometimes it required new cables to be replaced

I might have stayed with them if they had offered it to me at this price

Did the retensions team not get back to you?
  20. Pricklerickle's avatar
Well my contract ending next month, phone up and got 23 for same 250mb, aiming more for 20, do you think there call up
    Tarek1's avatar
Is that what the retention team offered you?
  21. FancoF's avatar
Called and chated with customer service, no luck to reducing my monthly bill as currently my contract is 25/m for 250Mbps. No sure if keep pushing them.
    BabiDealings's avatar
They don’t just reduce your price as a goodwill gesture, you have to either be at the end of your contract or out of contract. You then have to actually go ahead and request to cancel your service rejecting all the offers they throw at you (they will definitely give lower prices). You will then be contacted by the outbound retentions team who give the best offers by far, this is where you will get offered prices unavailable anywhere else.

I just negotiated a deal of £27 a month after giving my 30 days notice to leave. But to get that price I had to take an O2 mobile contract with it. So £22 for M250 broadband and and £5 for the 4GB O2 sim.
    StaceyQ's avatar
You can cancel the sim in the first 14 days and keep the broadband element until renewal
  23. Mts396's avatar
Would I have to go via topcashback to get the 75.00 back?
    StaceyQ's avatar
Yes, better to look out for a bill credit offer than cashback as this will show on your initial order.
