Does anyone know whether the RAM can be upgraded or stuck on, please? Had a look on the Ebay site, but no info. Thanks.

It had 8gb soldered and a free slot for an upgrade.

    Thanks for posting!

Can anyone confirm if this can charge via USB-C? It's a bit of a deal breaker for me as need to be able to charge via power bank.

Yes… I ordered the laptop a few weeks ago and this was one of the first things I tested!

This deal was incredible at £328, which is an absolute bargain for a laptop with such high specifications. I plan to upgrade the RAM to 16 GB using the available free slot. The screen quality is quite impressive for this price range, and the keyboard is comfortable for typing. A notable feature is the Asus Antimicrobial Guard, which is a nice touch. Performance-wise, the laptop is excellent. After updating Windows and all drivers, I conducted a stress test and monitored hardware temperatures. Remarkably, the laptop doesn’t overheat, even when the RAM and processor are utilized over 80-90% for more than 15 minutes. It remains cool, and the fan noise is minimal. This is in stark contrast to a similar priced laptop I recently tested from Dell, which overheated during updates before I could even perform a stress test. As a second-year computer science student with some experience in laptops, I am extremely pleased with this purchase and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a high-performance laptop at a great price.

Returned this one due to coil whine. Do think it can happen with any laptop though. If you had the same problem, just email asus and get a reference number for return, then provide it to AO. They returned mine very quickly with those steps.

You basically start ebay return process saying item defective then AO will request a reference number return from ASUS. You go to asus website and fill the contact form or email or call them. ask for a return because of the annoying noise. Request a reference number, they should reply to you saying blah blah sorry and provide the reference number. Then message AO the reference number and they will arrange collection. Whole thing took 2 days.

What is the 250 nit display like ?
    Wa55's avatar
Received mine this morning, the 250 nit display is perfectly fine, plenty bright for my use, don’t see any issue with it unless you’re planning on using it in direct sunlight or for really detailed graphic editing etc. (edited)

Is this laptop compatible with Roblox and Minecraft? Looking for a laptop for my 7 year old to play with it. Gaming laptops are too expensive

Was looking at this model last night on AO's own website for £399 and thought it was a good price! Ordered with a nice discount - thanks

Thanks OP. Looks decent for the money, especially if 2nd RAM slot. Had a £5 PayPal voucher I never knew about too.

I ordered it than cancelled it, I think I want a back lit keyboard. But good price.

Edit: decided to keep it as I was worried about screen size the checked my brothers laptop and same size seemed okay. (edited)

Looking for a laptop with smaller screen, but tempted by this deal. Any views on this one please. mainly for surfing and admin office work use etc.

    it says windows 11s. (edited)

I was also looking for a 14” laptop but the spec on this vivobook at this price is a no brainer even if it slightly bigger than I wanted.
  17. TirolForce165's avatar
If you want a backlit keyboard it seems you need to spend alot more like in the £600-£800 range in the current market unless you get a refurb (edited)

Great find but the price has gone up now

    Frustrating

Just set the laptop up and seem to be loosing 6 months on the warranty.

Worth contacting Asus, mines showing a full year.

Does anyone know how many nits does it have?
    89mrmark89_'s avatar
It's 250 nits. The screen is pretty good for the price range. It is bright enough unless you intend to use it in direct sunlight.
