How much better than the Superhub 3 is this? the WiFi on that is shocking
    hecatae's avatar
    The Virgin Superhub 3?
About ten times better, although you will need to keep the SH3 in modem mode to use this.

I understand even a rock would be better than Virgin's own Hub 5 but how's the signal strength and is it a global or chinese rom?

Considering a move to modem mode with a standard router. Hub 5 I can't complain for signal strength in our home - full bars in the back room - it's just more stability.

Anyone know what the difference is between this and the black xiaomi ax3000 router?
    hecatae's avatar
black ax3000 is Qualcomm Ipq6xxx, this is Mediatek Filogic

Might as well by an entry level wifi 7 one

Have a link to hand for entry level wifi 7 like? Mainly want for Quest 3, as for some reason my Three 5g wifi6 router while works great for everything else including streaming direct v large files, going from PC to Quest is just unusable

any good for a Vodafone 900mb router replacement ?
  6. abhi2002us's avatar
Will this work as a router replacement for Vodafone fibre connection from openreach?
    dt_matthews's avatar
If you don't have their Pro package or Digital Voice, yes, it can replace their hub, you'll need your username and password from Vodafone to configure in this router to allow authentication on their network. (edited)

Xiaomi appear to do a wifi 7 router for about £35 on ali....though hmmmm even though its "wifi 7" it only seems to support up to 5ghz - makes no sense

    edit 2

ok learnt something new from a video - Chinese models can't even use 6ghz because regulations still block 6 and 7 ghz in china, so the whole point of getting it seems pointless :/ Unless OpenWRT enables 6ghz somehow....(saw some comment tthat they may not even have the right antenna needed to do it) (edited)

I have the Chinese version of the ax3600. I have put openwrt on it, and get a WiFi throughput of around 450mbps. Deffo using WiFi 5 to full extent, it's WiFi 6 compliant albeit not 6e

Had mine delivered - not set up yet - anyone have a dummies guide on how to flash OpenWRT on it for when I set it up?
    sgastol's avatar
Which version did you receive, Global or Chinese? From what I have seen there is a problem with openWRT on the Global version.
