    Just ordered WD_BLACK SN770 2TB M.2 2280 Game Drive PCIe Gen4 NVMe up to 5150 MB/s, 109£ for Thursday delivery.

Is it worth to cancel and order this instead?

The SN770 is more efficient and cool running,ie,good for a laptop. The SN850X is a faster drive with a DRAM cache - it's faster in reads but for large writes is more consistent - it's about three times faster in the latter scenario. (edited)

Thanks good price, starting to gather bits for a new build and read the prices of SSD’s are going up again soon.

Does this need a heatsink, and if so, can anyone recommend a good affordable one?
    telcoengr's avatar
it does need heat sink, but some motherboards already have heatsink. If you dont have it then buy thermalright, they are cheap but does the job.

Just got Samsung 980 pro from Amazon for £129 - literally been delivered today. Do you think it’s worth returning and picking up this?

This is faster but the 980 Pro is a good SSD.

Few quid more on Amazon if you prefer that. I got it from there for £133.48.

Amazon should match this one or get it lower.

    Does this need a heatsink?
    _Kam's avatar
If your motherboard doesn’t have one ideally yes to avoid throttling. If you have a PS5 you definitely need one. The SN850x comes with a heatsink as well, it’s slightly more expensive though.
