About this item
  • 【Upgraded 500 mm/s Speed】PowerBoost 2.0 achieves smooth power output and increases power release by 30% compared to PowerBoost 1.0 to double the printing speed and acceleration of M5—without sacrificing print quality. Simply upgrade the AnkerMake Slicer, firmware, and the AnkerMake app to the latest version to experience the new speed.
  • 【Precise 0.1 mm Detail】Get precise prints thanks to a new ultra-direct extruder and integrated die-cast aluminum alloy structure. We never compromise on stability or quality—even when printing at high speed.
  • 【Error Detection System】 M5 calculates a printing plan and uses extra processing power and an integrated intelligent camera to stick to it—keeping your model matching your design. Save time and filament with real-time notifications that auto-pause prints when errors are detected, including failing to stick to the print bed, spaghetti messes, or extruder jams.
  • 【 Integrated Die-Cast Aluminum Alloy】The integrated die-cast aluminum alloy structure and Z-axis design increase the weight of the base, reducing the center of gravity of the machine. The design makes printing more stable for fast speed and turbo acceleration. This also reduces installation errors for the base, improving printer accuracy.
  • 【 Remote Control with Multiple Devices 】Whenever the moment of inspiration strikes, you'll be able to access your prints wherever you are. Remote control via the AnkerMake app, AnkerMake Slicer, Alexa.
  • 【7x7 Auto-Leveling】 Give your prints accuracy with 7x7 auto-leveling. Advanced algorithms calculate a virtual height map to get the print started right.

I kickstarted this device and I would look at getting something else. It’s not very reliable. Their software sucks, it’s crazy slow to run (I have a ryzen 5950x so it’s not my machine) windows and mac only (it’s based on prusaslicer which supports Linux, so why remove that support??) and you don’t get the speed advertised if you print using a different slicer, no matter what I did I could not get it to actually print at even 200mm/s let alone 500mm/s.

They dropped support for the all metal hotend that is supposed to fix the heat creep issues on long prints. Which doesn’t bode well.

They do most of their tech support via discord which is community run where if you do have issues with the actual printer they just blame you as they believe the printer is perfect and everything that goes wrong is your fault. Even when it’s not. Getting support is an absolute nightmare. Any attempt at getting eyes on your issue is met with sarcastic links to troubleshooting sections regardless of if you’ve posted there and it’s been ignored. Further pressing of the issue gets you muted. Complaining about being muted when seeking help results in being banned.

Bed adhesion using supports sucks when sliced in their software. It’s definitely a bug but they don’t want to know. Same file sliced in prusaslicer or orcaslicer supports just fine. It just prints at a 1/4 of the speed it should do.

I have over 7 years 3d printing experience owned and built several printers outside of my anet which worked fine for a few years once I had upgraded it but just failed due to age this is the worst printer I’ve ever owned because of the ecosystem. The build quality is solid it’s a nice looking piece of kit and well built in terms of frame it’s just the software and firmware isn’t anywhere near where it should be in comparison to its competitors.

    Great info, thanks for sharing.

What would suggest instead of this printer at a similar price point or do you need to really spend a bit more?

Seems like a great price. What cover is recommended to protect people from fumes etc? (edited)

Most people use PLA filament for these so fumes aren't an issue. Drafts and cold can be a problem but you just need to find a suitable location. My printer lives happily in the cupboard under the stairs.

If you need an enclosed printer the Creality K1 gets a lot of good press.

Lots of Facebook groups and YouTube channels out there with great advice - Check out Maker's Muse. for very knowledgeable impartial reviews (he's reviewed this M5). Do some research before jumping on something just because it's a deal.

There's a 25% voucher showing on the dock, but it seems to apply it to both items.. Total of £357.75 for me??

Excellent spot - Have updated the description!

I had both in the basket but I was googling around on 3d printers in general so never got to the checkout phase of the basket!

    Thanks.

I was tempted, but the owner reviews on Google give it a serious kicking. Seems the size of the discount is pretty much proportionate to the problems there are with the device.

It's only giving me £164.99 discount for some reason (looks like it's knocked 25% off the price of the free dock before discounting now)

Is it possible to make things to sell on this.. Like plastic holders/hooks etc.. Tia
    Ridg's avatar
Loads of people selling 3d printed objects on Etsy etc

Not necessarily from this machine but for lots pays say £10 for a holder is cheaper than buying a machine, you'd need the models to print here though, alternatively 3d print services is a business model too

Can you do anything useful with this? If so, what? (3D novice with no trade use case) (edited)

    I'm combining hobbies.

I bought a drone at Xmas and yesterday I took photos of a local Neolithic burial ground. I produced this last night thanks to Polycam: poly.cam/cap…799. I could have taken the photos with my normal phone camera as it was around head height but the drone will get me to places you wouldn't normally reach.

I've just spent an evening getting to grips with Blender and I now have the model printing on my 3D printer (it's a resin printer but the results will be the same.) Hopefully it turns out OK as Blender is pretty new to me. I'll paint the model when it's finished but I've a few ideas combining hobbies.

Isn’t this a really good price?

Looks like the M5C might actually be a better printer, not too sure which one now
  9. robjw_2001's avatar
Snagged both items for £357 which seemed to be a bit of a glitch with the discount. Really liking both so far. The printer is a big step up from the basic one I had before. Faster and better quality.

Ok, looks like the 25% discount off the dock has gone now, might explain why I wasn't getting the full discount

    Babulabs A1 knock off
    tjc2005's avatar
It came before the A1.... Stop being a Bambu fanboy, you lot are as bad as apple fanboys.

Bambu is a voron knock-off, and the A1 is a knock-off of countless other bed slingers. Prusa mini etc the list goes on. (edited)
