sorted byEdit: here's two photos of the worst affected areas. I kinf of feel that it's mainly aesthetic and it's not major but others might think otherwise. But my initial comment about the masonry being fine isn't true in these two areas. I could probably do with repointing it?

If it is the brickwork was originally pointed with a lime mortar and has been replaced with cement based since. Lime is breathable and soft, cement is non breathable and hard. If your pointing is harder than your brickwork then the bricks take the damage rather than the pointing, leading to spalling of the brickwork. Sealing in any moisture will make things worse over the long term. You would need to rake out the concrete and then repoint in a suitable lime based mortar.
They applied to the entire house including chimney and with the storms / heavy rain we had over winter the walls were completely dry on the outside, even after 2 years. Really happy with it and recommend!
I've got a 1 metre by 6 metre band at ground level (DPC is fine and no damp inside) that suffers from moisture penetration and the mortar crumbles away. I need to get it repointed again first. (edited)
