Lovely price (under £1000) - had a few messages about this, so thought I'd share!

You'd be visiting quite a few destinations - the airlines vary from (but most aren't full-service - this post is aimed mostly at backpackers, so don't expect too much luxury.

However, there is a baggage option too, unlike previous posts (see comment #1)

Plenty of places across the world to wash clothes etc. - make sure you plan accommodation and itineraries, this is just based on flights.

All flights are direct and start and return to London

First you'll visit America (Los Angeles), followed by Hawaii (Honolulu), Japan (Tokyo, plenty of time to explore other parts too), then a final Asia Leg (Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur) before visiting the Maldives and signing off in Dubai - before you head home to London.

1) Gatwick to LA - 16th April: here

You'll need to transfer to Dubai - this might slightly help etihad.com/en-…ach

Dubai to Heathrow - 12th June: here

The total is approx £900 - hope it helps someone

Would you require prearranged visas for the HK leg of your trip? Also I noticed there is no European country listed. Is this deliberate? How do you do a world trip without connecting through Europe, Africa or the Urals or Slavic regions?

You could always add Dubai to France or Germany before going to London and you can visit Hong Kong for up to 6 months without a visa

Ok, so as I've mentioned clearly in previous posts and in this one, it is aimed at backpackers and those who don't mind travelling with the basic minimum. However, I understand that this isn't for everyone and I've also planned a route with baggage this time around - it isn't double the cost to bring a suitcase like some claimed last time. In fact it's less than a 1/3 - you'll practically never be able to get a RTW trip with luggage for under £1200!

But for those interested, see below.

If you have the time then it would be great to add a very cheap relocation (autumn and spring normally) cruise (or 2) as part if the journey. ie around November it easy to go from Europe to Brazil or Argentina for under 400 quid normally, with stops on route.

Backpackers wouldn't even consider a lot of those destinations given the cost of accommodation, unless they are "made in Chelsea"...
    peakbear's avatar
Only Hawaii is really pricey on accommodation I would say. I'm a backpacker and only not been to the Maldives on this list, but that has very reasonably priced accommodation.

Afraid not at the moment, last year there were some decent offers last-minute but that's a bit risky potentially.

This website is horrid. You do a search and the prices come out wrong, when they come out at a decent level you do another search a few nins later and they change. Then you leave it be for a week and the prices go down again. Does anyone have tips on how to navigate this site?

OP, have you ever tried to put a trip like this together using Business or Premium economy flights?
I tried a couple of years ago but couldn't join it up.

I did have a look when I made this and it cost about 6 to 7 times more IIRC

Hi. I've been seriously looking at your itinerary for the past few days. I'm really tempted but unfortunately a couple of the stages don't work for me date wise. Would you mind telling me how you're getting these sorts of prices? I'm looking at putting a trip together using your framework but tweaking it a little to suit my needs. Are these prices so good because the initial departure date is so close? What would you say is the optimum time before departure to book? Are some of the stages on unpopular routes and at off peak times of the year? Sorry for the big message and don't worry if you don't feel like answering. Thanks anyway and thanks for the inspiraton

Generally last min, airlines tend to flog off seats cheaper but that isn't always the case and for this itinerary it tends to be always cheap-ish out of school holidays (give or take £150~£200).

It depends on what you consider as "unpopular", some may not like say the Maldives as they've already visited Hawaii etc. - for most destinations it's a decent time to visit but using the Dubai example, it can get a bit hot post May. You can always adjust the itinerary too, for instance Sydney over Tokyo. It's personal preference really, most of these should be ok though!

You should probably set aside a 2 month period and list the places you want then tweak the order with random places (e.g. New York instead of LA)

    Glad it's inspiring some trips

Might take the kids out of school for 2 months and risk the £60 fine.
Don't think they'll miss much, a couple of GCSEs or A Levels, they can resit. (edited)

Wow, super deal. Please keep these round the world deals coming. This is an absolute bargain, although it would be better with a 3-4 day stop at each imo. But thats just me, I like to cram stuff in. But almost a month away would be a bit too much for me. (edited)

Hey great deals if only it was just me and the other half and no pets children or work lol…..I hope you’re still around when I reach retirement! Can you give me some advice please on searching for flights? I am a bit crap at it to say the least! My daughter is going on a volunteer thingy to Thailand in the summer I say volunteer loosely as we have to pay for everything. The programme has set arrival and departure timetables….would Skyscanner be my best option? Thanks op
