Worst company ever, treats loyal customers like trash. If you have BRSK in your area get that, fixed prices for 2 yrs & much cheaper

Post an existing customer deal from any major provider.
Basically, all deals are for new customers, existing customers negotiate prices at renewal.

Guys just to let you know if you have other options available and even if its £10-20 more do not hesitate trust me. You will save yourself massive headache with customer service and random wrong bills all the time.

All these amazing suggestions for various Altnets. Which are great, but you have to be incredibly lucky to be served by one.

Personally, my options are an end of the line BT copper line or VM.

I'll take VM every time if it means I can have a service with more than 20mbps bandwidth (edited)

Absolutely appalling company with everything! Avoid!
    aLV426's avatar
The problem for me is I don't really have a choice - it's either VMBB or 4/5G as I need a new cable feed for any other ISP

VM usually raises their prices every year in April, so I found it quite funny when it says "NO Price Rise 2024", there will most probably be price rise next April even though you have a deal of 18 months...just keep in mind whoever is looking into this! (edited)
    BD71's avatar
Yep VM will definitely raise your prices in April

If you have O2 contract - your BB speed will be increased to next available tier and your data will be boosted to double the amount.

Just left them for Vodafone as the offer for renewal price was £37 from them for this. £28 with Vodafone as I have a sim only with them and got Quidco cash back.
    malky39's avatar
I have recently done the same as city fibre were offing £200 in voucher to switch. Virgin straight out the bat offered £39 for this but I would have to take a £5 SIM aswell. Am sure I could have got them lower but when the retentions team called they said they wouldn't get anywhere near the £28 Vodafone were offering. So even without city's fibres £200 it will be cheaper. Also got Quidco to track at £120 but don't think it will pay. Vodafone were also offering a tech pack for current mobile customers with a ring door bell and Amazon speaker which I will probably sell

Anybody use freedom fibre or specifically fusion fibre by any chance ?

Worst customer service ever. Shambles of a company.

You've seemingly never had the misfortune to deal with Shell Energy then. VM are definitely not great with regards to Customer Service, but Shell Energy take ineptitude to a whole new level.

Had virgin broadband fitted last Saturday, they fitted the junction box right behind the door hinge so the door will not open correctly, messaged a couple of days ago to get them to come back out, not heard anything yet.
    Chojiin's avatar
Why did you let them fit it there? And why did you let them leave it like that?

    Genuine question...

Signed up 3/3/24. Install date for 13/3/24. Engineers fitted an ugly grey box to the front of my house.

Received a text to call them which i did. Got through to an Indian sounding lady who told me the install will be pushed to the 25/3/24.

I agreed and called again on the 23/3/24 to check everything was ok and to enquire if the price of the bundle would now be £10 pm cheaper as it was showing on the bundle i had left in the basket.

I was told that the order was pending cancellation (i never instructed them to do so) and that the price they showed was not showing for them and they wouldn’t honour it.
The (again, Indian sounding lady) informed me that the cancellation was cancelled and my install will now be the 3/4/24.

I cancelled, told them that given this is a time you would expect a company to put its best foot forward and this is what they had done i didn’t want to chance having to deal with them in contract for an actual problem.

    I stayed with Sky.

I don’t know if VMs call centres are all in India or i was just unlucky but i found it difficult to understand and deal with everyone i spoke to as they don’t get the nuances of our language.

Anyway, this is the end of my book. Personally based on my limited dealings with them i have advised others to stay away.

I've spoken to a few VM agents with Scottish accents...
Hateful, horrible customer services - I still never got my "automatic compensation" due to a cabinet side outage (the crimped cable feed to my house was lying in a puddle of water inside the street cabinet according to the engineer and many consumer boxes hadn't been terminated correctly which is what cuased my weird speed/outage issues)

Anyone got advice? Our Virgin introductory offer contract is ending in about a week. Our renewal price is around £35 a month but will go up in April. We were hoping to move to BRSK but unfortunately it could take a month for them to get our street sorted, so can't really switch to them immediately. Personally I could tether from a data sim for a month or whatever but my parents use the internet to watch Netflix and other stuff all the time. Looks like we're gonna have to stick with virgin for 2 years at this new higher price + rises (so close yet so far with BRSK almost ready, but not quite). Any ideas?
    KodaBear's avatar
Take a 1 month rolling contract somewhere. Three 5G Home Broadband is £25 a month. Now TV Broadband is a pound cheaper but with a £60 convenience fee upfront.

Alternatively you could leave the Virgin account to run on a 30-day rolling basis as the much higher price and cancel when you're ready.

You're only stuck with VM for another 18-24 months if you sign a new contract. You're free to do nothing, but you'll pay more for this while you wait.

I have heard so many bad things about Virgin over the years that I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole. They are happy to take your money, but cancelling, reporting a problem, trying to get support is apparently a complete nightmare.

This will be a lot of peoples experience with most providers

I've been with VM for over 20 years. Not much competition for their broadband speeds in my area. They can definitely be infuriating on occasion when an issue arises, but I generally find them to be quite receptive & competitive, IF (and I mean capital IF) you're willing to call their bluff & show them you are prepared to follow through with any cancellation request.
Do a little research, & know what their competitors are offering, & I've always managed to secure a deal that I'm happy with.
I'm currently paying £67 a month for top TV on 2 boxes, with all Sports channels in HD, M350 B/B, Netflix & anytime landline phone calls. When I was up for renewal in December I just rang retentions & they basically renewed my existing deal for another 18 months there & then.

If I took out a one month 3 5G package, or even cancelled and came back to virgin would they class me as a new customer
    KodaBear's avatar
Officially it’s 6 months to be a new customer. In reality though you’ll get away with it if you wait until 1 month after your final bill has been generated and paid - This is when your account officially closes.

If you have another adult living at the address they can apply as a new customer straight away.

It looks totally different today. 500mb link transfers me to virgin/o2 website(packages with o2 sim card for another 6 quid minimum) and does not show any bill credit. Anyone experiencing the same thing?

Terrible company, people should avoid them if they can, much better, faster and cheaper alternatives out there, look up YouFibre as an example see if they support your area (edited)

I went from Virgin - Vodafone - Sky, now back to Virgin. They installed M500. Sent me hub 3 (should’ve got hub 4). Sent an engineer to sort it, he installed hub 5. Rang them to get a WiFi extender. They added £8 per month to my package for it 🤦🏽‍♀️ Need to call them tomorrow, still within my 14 to cancel. But every company I’ve been with has internet that constantly cuts out. (edited)
