    I wonder why in the ISP firms I've looked at, fat pipe internet is always quoted at 900 Mbps but never more

    Have we hit the ceiling as to what the UK network can support?

    When Openreach drag their knuckles like a bunch of apes for 10+ years this is what happens, stagnation. You need alternative network operators like YouFibre to come along who can supply 8 Gbps.

    It's also a lack of hardware. Right now Openreach is rolling out 1.8 Gbps packages for ISPs but that doesn't mean anything if every port on the routers is 1 Gbps. The EE Smart Hub Plus being the number 1 offender of this. A 2.5 Gbps WAN port but 1 Gbps LAN... defeats the purpose.

    The only reason Openreach put out this 1.8 Gbps package is because Virgin Media were announcing 2 Gbps packages

    Little disappointed, waited 3 weeks for an install, despite assurances that my flat was ready, they then came couldn't do it - despite me waiting in all day for it and then when they come saying it wasn't ready .... weren't willing to sort it, so I was left with no internet and no willingness to resolve.
